Can I get a QSL card?

(I'm going to leave out the pirate station name and frequency because every time I mention hearing them, they stop broadcasting for a long time and every time I think they are going to be on, they aren't except the few times I forget and then there they are!)

here's my QSL report...

I was in the car heading from Farmington (anime club meeting) to Middletown and I totaly forgot about tuning into "the frequency" until about 8:20 (somewhere in east Berlin) and the first song I heard I forgot, as I wasn't about to drive while writing, I got home at 8:27 and it starts from there...

8:27 Foreigner - I want to know what love is
8:30 some DJ banter lost in the static and a comment about GWBush, into a song that I think he said was by Sam K Davis???
8:33 DJ idents as "Nomad" and claims "I'll be taking over the station for the next 4 hours"
8:34 (and this is always over the music playing regardless of where the song is at) DJ discusses going into a crate of vinyl and finding a k-tel like compilation
8:35 starts plucking thru random tracks (assume it's the comp)
first some beatles sounding track
8:36 ELO starts, not sure which track, then cuts off 15 seconds in, plays two seconds of another track and then settles on "Evil Woman" again proclaims "S&M Man, I'm taking over the station"
8:37 A second station fades up really strong taking out the pirate playing A-Ha "Take on Me" (approx 5 seconds)
8:40 second station fades in again, playing Rolling Stones - "Start Me Up"
8:40, other station fades, pirate is playing some song I forget who it's by, "Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me"
8:44 Station ID "Optometrist" into another song I don't know "one summer night"
8:45 second station fades in slightly with H. Lewis - "Heart & Soul"
8:46 after fade there is more DJ banter and he's taking phone calls over the music
8:47 (mostly not playing the full songs at this point) another song I don't know "Deeper and Deeper"
8:47 still hearing H. Lewis off in the background a 3rd station fades in with Shania Twain - "Still the One"
8:48 the DJ complains about the phone calls he's getting and mentions someone called "Armadillo" and calls him "DJ Hasselhoff"
8:51 "Stand by, we have a technical problem" music cuts out and back twice and then DJ proclaims "I am the best engineer and the best announcer in the world" and mentions "Radio Widow" no longer living at the station
8:52 Station ID "Best damn station in the world" (what? he did some prep in advance??) into another song I don't know and couldn't quote as he kept cutting into it talking over it
8:53 Station ID "All the songs sound better on W***" into yet another oldie I couldn't place
8:54 3rd station fades in for a moment with a sherman williams ad
8:56 Station ID "Optometrist" into Gary Neuman - "Cars"
8:57 2nd station fade in for 5 seconds playing Peter Gabriel - Sledge Hammer
8:58 Station ID "All the songs sound better on W***" into another oldie I couldn't place, but then he cut into it with shout outs.

Too much static at this point, I gave up, and if you are in central CT right now I assume they are still on the air as I type this.

If you guys are reading this send a QSL confirmation to [email protected]

IF you don't mind me saying....leave the reception of the idiots running a pirate station alone. They're just calling out for attention and recognition. Any "true" broadcaster past or present, won't even look at them twice. Why give recognition to some idiot radio wannabe's playing radio. As for a QSL card...even normal radio stations don't give them out anymore, except the big 50Kw giants that cover 30 states at night. That's DX'ing. Most radio stations today have one engineer to cover all their stations and almost no one writes in with QSL information. The AM I'm associated with gets a letter occasionally from Europe or way out west due to the fact that we are a directional AM. We have an engineer that could care less and he usually gives me the letters and says "would you answer them please." So I make up a QSL card on the computer and mail it to the person. But please, ignore the pirate. The more attention you bring to this illegal broadcaster...the more they'll broadcast...thinking they're something great. By the way...nice detail on the report.

That's just it, they vanish every time I mention them here, I have yet to hear them since, sometimes they go months without returning, I've cleared the frequency yet again (ok, maybe not, but there is a chance they are seeing this). I don't seriously think they'd send me a qsl card, though shortwave pirates do frequently send them, never know, an FM might, though it's possibly a one percent chance of them doing so.

Actually, when I was TD/CE at a station nearby, I got a letter from a member of the AM/FM/TVDX association who was able to get us when the local station on the same frequency was off the air due to technical difficulties, this guy was in Franklin Mass. I sennt him a verification. Not too shabby for 1.5 kw from Central CT.

Hey DJKraze....Our 5Kw is a daytimer and every once in a while, the cheap computer used to turn it on and off forgets...so the 5KW keeps shooting out at night until I or the engineer get a call to turn it off. One night, someone down in the Carolinas heard it and sent an email to us. Not bad since we aim west/east. Also, being a ham operator, I'm always sending out batches of QSL cards to the ARRL for distribution around the world and U.S. Once in a while, I'll get a letter from the ARRL, forwarded from a short wave listner who wants a report from my ham station. Always happy to send the "non-ham" a card. Some ham in Texas did that for me when I was a kid. Anyway, reception of FM signals in June when ducting occurs, can be interesting. Once, while living in Idaho, I could hear an FM out of Missouri on the car radio. Clear as a bell.
