Why is it that the local Air America affiliate (910am) hasn't yet figured out that 3 minutes of PSA's don't fit into 2 1/2 minute breaks? Is it total incompetence of 1) the board ops, 2) the PD, 3) the station management, or 4) all of the above?

Hasn't the station been on the air long enough that they could figure out by now how to match the total time of commercials and PSA's to the total time of the breaks?

Also, does anyone else think that the "Discount Diva" heard on Air America sounds like an incoherent drunk?

I'm the first to say that this market is flooded with way too many Far Right, extreme conservative talk show "sheep herders"....but shouldn't this be an incentive for 910am to GET IT RIGHT?!

True, but a lot of low budget small stations with automation often over look "backtiming" and don't care. There are a few more like KXEB in the area who overlap or skip segements all together.

Apparently not.

As as to parphrase the '60s song by the Outsiders -- "Time is Not on THEIR Side".

Haven't heard it, but you're a big fan, I take it.

Right! I mean correct.

You won't have to worry about Air America soon. They're going under fast. Now they're asking listeners to donate money.

What they need to do is get Al Franken and all the rest of the blowhards off and replace them with people that have talent and are armed with facts not propaganda.

Why not call the station? Ask for the general manager and complain.

But I am confused, if you dislike the station so much, why are you so concernd?

To be clear, I have heard five minutes or less of the station -- a woman in middays months ago, and that was all I could take.

It is as radical and nutty on the far left as the far right.

And, I have never listened to Franken. However, I have heard that he is terrible on radio.

Great writer though, whether you agree with him or not.

What does "Disconut Diva" refer to? Her nickname ... or yours?

Many drunks are incoherent.

You kidding, aren't you?

Dallas could always use more.

Where is H.L. Hunt, the John Birch Society and The Minutemen when you need them?

KRLD should.

Maybe it could put together a decent news organization and hire a real news/talk programmer instead of an ex-top 40 jock.

And you don't think Rush, Michael Savage, Laura Ingram, Glenn Beck, Mike Gallagher, Ernie Brown, William Bennett, and the like DON'T deal in propaganda -- Karl Rove style?

By the way, did you know that in his younger days, Karl Rove did the same sort of political dirty tricks that Donald Segretti did for Richard Nixon?

He was reprimanded by the Republican Party (call it youthful enthusiam if you want), but he was old enough to know better.

No better spinner than "The Rover" ... and when he barks ... the right listens.

Franken wasn't even a decent funny man, then someone comvinced him he should be a talk radio type. If he loses his lip, he must be given the zip. Fo shizzle. >

Do they run any commercials?

Silly question I'm sure..but every time I've tuned in all I've heard are PSAs.
Are there any paying advertisers for KXEB?

Re: Air America

At least Air America has mustered a meager 0.5 consistently now, however weak that still is, but only 1/10th's point away from the well-promoted, signal-blessed KSKY, who's been on a year longer, and 1.1 lower than perennial bottom-feeder KLIF. That also blows away the Ranch and Texas Talk 990, who didn't even make the Trends this time. I think the problem has more to do with their horrible audio. Every radio I try, I get these terrible loud pops and dropped audio, no matter where I'm tuning in from. I'd bet that the 0.5 listeners are probably the most loyal in local radio to put up with that every single day. For me, I flip on the satellite radio or use the webcast when 910 becomes unbearable and hear it in stereo, distortion-free.

I think the bigger problem here is that KXEB obviously does not care about the audio issues. Nothing about it has changed since Air America signed on, and try to find contact information for the station somewhere. No email, no phone, nothing. Despite some folks' conspiracy theories about Air America, I can only guess that it would succeed better if the signal (and affiliate participation) were better. And judging a liberal station in the Neo-Con Belt is not even a fair assessment, anyway.

Karl was a Donald Segretti protege. In 1973, during the height of Watergate, he went around the country teaching young Republicans the art of dirty tricks. He may have been publicly reprimanded by the Republican party, but privately he was rewarded and appointed the youth minister to the dirty tricksters.

Exactly right.

And Karl continues with political dirty tricks to this day.

Whom do you think planted the rumors about Ann Richards and John Kerry?

Yep, good guess :).

Re: Air America

And beats the Range 95.3 with a good signal.
