Can there be more than ONE in Buffalo?

I was a big fan of the old 66 WNNNNNNBC. They had quite an array of personalities in the 70s and 80s. Not just Imus and Stern, but Soupy Sales, Joey Reynolds, Frank Reed, Wolfman Jack, Big Ron O'Brien, and the list goes on and on.

As a young DJ back in those days, I used to listen to the NBC news feed channel in cue just to hear NBC sending either WNBC or WYNY-FM down the line in between newscasts. I grew to appreciate the style and talent of longtime evening/night jock Allan Beebe.

Long way to go to get to the point, I know, but I was listening to a clip of Beebe's last show on WNBC in 1985, when an on-air call caught my attention:

Go to 16:50

I used to enjoy the WNBC Time Machine. both over the air and on the network between newscasts. I don’t remember hearing WYNY often, it was mostly WNBC.
