Can They Sustain This?

Congrats to AMP Radio on their turnaround over the last few months. From 2.8 to 3.5 to a 4.3 is pretty impressive. However, one thing I ask is can AMP keep this up? has the CHR tide shifted to 98.7 to stay or is this a one month surprise? AMP has passed 95.5 before, and ratings wise, led 95.5(mostly due to 106.7 The Beat at the time), but didn't really capitalize long enough. Also, while AMP has the lead right now, it's not all bad for 95.5 as they still have the higher cumulative audience 1,152,800 to 939.800. So, in closing, can AMP keep this up? or will 95.5 close the gap soon? all replies are welcome?

AMP has been helped by poor execution by CC. CC has responded with a new market manager. So I don't see AMP maintaining this peak but it will still be competitive.

CBS Detroit continues to be very well run.

Looking for a reason to fault anything you said, and I can't. for AMP to have caught 95.5 at a time where they have been changing their music direction, and they have been changing dj's a lot, Clear Channel has to be wondering, and a bit dissapointed. But this is one of their big stations(it's not like its WDFN), so I would expect some tweaks. Jag seems to have dissapeared, so maybe that's one thing they are admitting a mistake on.

CC is hobbled by the fact that a large chunk of their revenue goes toward debt service. CBS, while not debt free, built it's network largely through the use of stock. Even with a new manager in town, he will be limited in what he can offer talent and what promotions can be run. AMP has wedged itself in the door and CC is not going to get back all of what CBS took from them.

At some point I see CC's debtholders taking over the company. Then, without those suffocating interest payments, it can be a force again.

98.7 AMP RADIO ratings has finally dropped in the August 2012 ratings. So they have not been able to sustain it. :(
