Can we limit the e-skip threads?

E-skip affects half the country at once. In the future, can we just have one thread per e-skip opening with logs and unIDs?
Keep in mind the difference between tropo and e-skip. Tropo is usually less than 500 miles and stable, e-skip is usually over 700 miles and unstable. Tropo does not cause e-skip and vice versa, although you can have both a tropo opening and an e-skip opening at the same time (which is annoying to ID the tropo stations when you're looking for e-skip)

There is a Yahoo group set up for quick responses to E-skip and other DX topics - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ABDX

I like these threads; it seems like I'm listening to the radio ONLY when there are no e-skip conditions. Really rotten luck although I've had a few catches over the years. Hey even a blind dog finds a bone sometime..
I hope to make some catches and chime in sometime.

You're right Nick. I enjoy reading them, but it IS a drag on the board to have a new thread every time it happens. A bit out of hand, I'd say.

Can't we just have a combined thread for e-skip going forward instead of several threads, each with 5 or 6 responses?

Perhaps the board administrator could create a separate category called "Hot DX" for this. I'm sure there's enough room for that here on radio-info. I have heard of "reflectors" out there on the web, however, I haven't had a chance to find those. Thanks for the links.
If anyone knows of more great websites in addition to the sites already listed for "Hot DX" happening now please let us DX hounds know!

Sounds good to me. Anything to make easy on everyone else.

Well, during the spring and summer, this is when the DX is "hot". During the fall and winter is when the AM is "hot", especilay at night. E-skip is a tributary of the DXing "river" :D , as well as meteor scatter and tropo! It can effect the East Coast, then move on to the Midwest, then the west.

Sure, but do we need a new subject each time? With so much e-skip activity (except here!), perhaps a combined thread makes more sense.

Wow, you're fast!

Thanks for the tips. Starting today, I will do an afternoon and evening report with the date on it, sometimes Mornings if I'm awake and dressed, ready for the e-skip. The Afternoon Report Part 1 will follow in just a moment.
