Can you hear us now?

NE Ohio's FM 88-9 made some improvements at our Kent transmitter site this month that's helped many folks in the "fringe" area pull us in better.
If you're a NE Ohio DX'er or just a fan of commercial-free Modern Rock or 50's 60's Oldies (Sundays),
then you may wish to check it out....
and let us know if YOU hear the difference too (and where you are).
Thanks,
Bill

Just saw your posting...Heard you today up by the Cleveland Airport (specifically Bagley and Engle Roads. Wasn't solid, full quieting but I was surprised to hear it. Where is your transmitter site, anyway?

Jim

Used to be I could only pick up WSTB when i got up near Cuyahoga Falls, now can hear it in Southern Summit county and Wadsworth also. Bob Long does a great job with a very well run student station and I especially like the Sunday Oldies jukebox, beats anything XM or regular commercial stations have going for them. {hint, hint, Clear Channel & CBS radio} ;)

You really think Clear Channel and CBS really care about what we want?

Picked up 88.9 FM WSTB while sitting at Famous Dave's Bar-B-Q place just past Great Northern Blvd. Sounds Great!!!

Obviously Crap Channel and CBS only care what their shareholders want......someone needs to get a sharp stick and poke it in the CBS eye! :-\

Thanks for the FM 88-9 signal reports folks...
Since the original sig report request, we made another upgrade that helped even more.
I have one more small upgrade bump left...
but so far it's been very encouraging.

still waiting for info on (Kent) transmitter site.

Oh yeah...
the Kent Tx ant is at the top of a 350' self-supporting tower on the KSU campus...
(making FM 88-9 the strongest radio signal at KSU...
all 675 ERP watts of it). lol
Bill

WSTB is NOT from the old WKSU tower on the Kent State campus, right?

It is from another tower on campus. Is that correct?

Correct....the old WKSU tower (a 300' guyed) is gone (along with their 50kw Tx facility)....
It was replaced by a new 350' self supporter near by (the FM 88-9 main and 89.7 aux).
Bill

Uncle Bill,
I can no longer hear your station. I tried to listen to the SOJ last week to no avail.
I also need some Matzo ball soup, can you help?
G

Sorry Po...can't help w/ either one where you are now...
but then in 4 mos when I'm slipping on ice...
I'll think of you!
We all miss you...and I'm sure you miss the ice...
Stay well....
UB

Based on my visual observation, the WSTB antenna is on a relatively new self-supported tower located very near where the former WKSU-FM (guyed) stick once stood...but it is a different tower. A few months ago I drove past there and saw the FM antenna and thought that it was just an auxiliary (back up) antenna for WKSU. Wrong assumption.
Jim

"....saw the FM antenna and thought that it was just an auxiliary (back up) antenna for WKSU. Wrong assumption."

Not really wrong Jim...actually a semi-right assumption...
it does double duty...
Primary for FM 88.9 and Aux for 89.7.
(It's broad enough to pull it off).
