How come Canada doesn't start their news early as 4:30am like the US, why does most of the early morning newscast starts at 6am or at least 530am instead of 5 or 430am? Do canadians wake up later than their american counter part?

The simple answer: Canadian broadcasters don't prioritize to local programming as highly as their American counterparts. Canadian broadcasters regard it as a legal obligation rather than a way to make money, so most produce only the minimum required by law. One exception is CHCH in Hamilton; if I'm not mistaken, they do have news at 4:30am now, or 5:00 at the very latest.
At the same time, I question how much local news is really needed at 4:30am, especially outside the top 20 markets.
And to e-dawg: The Global O&Os in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton moved the start time of their morning news from 5:30am to 5am a couple of weeks ago, so now they at least match the standard start time for the American affiliates from 5-10 years ago.
