Canadian Radio Conference

Since I didn't get an answer in the canadian section (which kind of confirms my theory) I thought I would ask the question here:

As you can see from the banner ad, Lew Dickey and Lee Abrams will be keynote speakers at the Canadian radio conference. With all due respect, WHY would any broadcaster in Canada give two s**t's what Lew or Lee have to say? If I were signed up for this conference, I would want a refund. ???

They'll both be speakers at an AllAccess.com Worldwide Radio Summit in L.A. during April. I haven't seen anything about a Canadian conference.

Then you'd better clean your glasses. It's the top banner ad on the radio-info homepage, and has been there for a month. But I can't say I blame you for not noticing. ::)

It just seems to me that Canadian broadcasters would have their own self appointed "experts"

Love 'em or hate 'em, you have to admit Lew and Lee are two very successful folks in radio and might could share a thing or two. Except for Cancon and some other rules about the songs you play, Canadian radio isn't that different from US radio. And the impact of Cancon, etc. is often quite overstated.

Although it's quite annoying when I listen to AT40 The 70s or 80s on a Canadian station and they stop the show to insert some Gordon Lightfoot, Guess Who, or other very obvious (and burned out, and not in sync year-wise with the show that week) Cancon cuts. But, like everything else, you can do it well, or you can mail it in.

Well, I don't read the Radio-Info homepage; I have the Discussion Boards bookmarked. But after "Stereolane's" insult, I took a look at it. And I saw the conference will also have speakers from Australia, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Taiwan and the Netherlands.

So I'll take a guess that this is an international conference, and attendees want the perspective of industry leaders from around the world. So Stereolane, why are you questioning Lew Dickey and Lee Abrams, and not the speakers from the other countries?
