WINNIPEG - The CRTC has received an application by Nostalgia Broadcasting Cooperative for a broadcasting licence to operate a new FM radio station to serve Winnipeg, Manitoba. Given the scarcity of FM frequencies in the Winnipeg market, the CRTC is calling for applications from
other parties wishing to obtain a radio licence to serve this area. Nostalgia Broadcasting currently operates the low power “special events” station CJNU 107.9 in Winnipeg.

Wowzers. Half of CJLL's programming is bought and paid for by the Chinese government, as CHIN Ottawa runs CRI programming 12 hours a day, every day. On top of that, much of CRI's programming is in English. Perhaps the CRTC should look into CJLL's objectives, as set out by the 'Ethnic broadcasting policy'.

I used to like CJLL's Arabic programming, however as it's gained popularity, it has expanded, but now split into two smaller blocks (morning and afternoon) in which more talk and less music is played. :(
