CANADIAN SATELLITE RADIO has started the process of building its terrestrial repeater network across CANADA, hiring engineering firm YVES R. HAMEL ET ASSOCIES INC. to conduct drive testing for the service. HAMEL will help determine where to place the terrestrial transmitters to fill in holes in the satellite service's coverage area.
CSR Chairman/CEO JOHN BITOVE noted that he and partner XM SATELLITE RADIO are still "evaluating" the CRTC's requirement of eight Canadian channels for the proposed service, "the pressure from retailers and automotive manufacturers to commence service this fall has resulted in us beginning our major investments now."<P ID="signature">______________
