Edmonton's five-year-old smooth jazz FM becomes gold-based AC "up 99.3"
Rawlco Radio persuaded the government of its claim that “the specialty smooth jazz format is no longer viable in Edmonton” on CHMC (99.3). Tuesday night, it re-launched on live television as a gold-based AC named “up 99.3.” “up!’, tagged as “Edmonton’s Feel Good Station”, will compete with “Joe FM” CKNG and classic hits “Capital FM” CKRA (96.3). As for the “Magic” personalities: morning talents Shannon Tyler and Duncan Paterson will take different shifts, as husband-and-wife Jamie & Dan move back to their native Edmonton to handle mornings.
