Candy O'Terry on her way out?

It seems that Magic 106.7 is phasing out Candy O'Terry. For many years, she was often heard afternoons, along with Dan Justin. But now, it would appear they have this new voice named Tina Gao. Apparently, she is a UMass Graduate and was a newscaster at WERS. But I really hope Candy isn't gone. She has been a veteran at Magic for almost 18 years.

If I were a betting man, I'd say she isn't going anywhere unless she is voluntarily leaving. The voices at Magic are some of the longest lasting voices at a radio station and Candy does more than just traffic at Magic...she subs for the other jocks, she is the Asst Program Director, and cohosts the Exceptional Women show according to Magic's website. I've heard her doing traffic reports on other stations while occasionally scanning the dial in the afternoon.

Maybe it's just a summer/fall thing and she is taking some time off. Or maybe she is concentrating more on off-air work than on-air work.

I agree with you.

I know they've been around for years and years. Not for nothing, they've got to wider their variety. We have this station on at work, (not by choice) They play the same ten songs (example Beyonce at 10:10am) , it is later played around 3:37pm
There are so much music out there, but I guess they have music tests.

My idea, is (Slow Jams Radio) Slowjams.com >>>>HOT923.com >>>>>Top right click HD, choose "Slow Jams Radio"
"Sunday Night Slow Jams With R DUB is syndicated through Superadio, and (with was Jones Radio Network-Now Dial-Global)
Now, "Slow Jams Radio" is a 24/7 Network that can ONLY be heard on Clear Channel HD2 Stations.
Slow Jams Radio plays the BEST R&B from Today, Tommorow, Recent 2002-2008, and yesterday 1980s-2002.

My idea is Dial-Global should syndicate Slow Jams Radio to ANY radio station who want to pick them up, then Magic 106.7 can pick them up 24/7

That's just my thought

(to you all, maybe it sound like a dream-fantacy)

Anyways,

I wish Magic 106.7 good luck in whatever they do.

WMJX is currently Boston's top rated adult music station 12+, and tied (with "Kiss") for the second highest rated music station overall behind WJMN, which goes for a younger audience. WMJX would be foolish to change to their format, and I'm sure they're not planning to.

Why does EVERY post have to end up anout Urban AC/Slow Jams/Smooth Jazz/blah, blah, blah?? Eli hit the nail on the head, WMJX is not changing anytime soon.

Candy O'Terry is not going anywhere; she is WMJX.

As for "they play the same ten songs", everybody knows that statement is inaccurate; Magic is one of the best-programmed stations in Boston, and that is evident every quarter.

They still need to get rid of those horrible custom edit hack jobs of some of the songs they play. Some that come to mind:

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Aerosmith - Don't Want To miss A Thing
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
Journey - Faithfully

Yeah, because those edits had such a negative impact on their ratings & revenue. ;)

So you don't like the edits. That's ok. Exit to the left. They have 10 other listeners waiting outside to take your place.

How could you forget REO Speedwagon's "Keep on Lovin' You," where they hack 15 seconds out of the guitar solo! But in all honesty, the edits are pretty bad - not because they're doing it but because they're put together so poorly. Nobody's going to call up and ask where those 15 seconds went (after all, it's pretty much a background music station), but these tunes would sound a lot better if they made the edits cleaner.

I'm definitely not a regular listener of theirs... I just get a good laugh ever time I happen to hear one of these, that's all.
