Candy+Potter gone from 94.1 KMPS Mornings

The Candy+potter Morning show is no longer according to a Facebook post by the hosts this morning 8-30-2011.
They site "continuing overall of station" and "powers that be" have made the decision that they are not continuing with the station.
It's sad, being this was the "good" alternative for Country listeners to the 100.7 The Wolf and their "big headed""I'm holier than thou" attitude of Morning show host Fitz.

This was a supreme joke to begin with. I mean you really thought Candy and Potter would work?
Candy and Jerry didn't really work in this market before. They were average. Average when they went to Albany.
They didn't do anything there. So why did KMPS hire them? So why are you surprised?

what a circus........

nope, ive never even listened to this circus act. but, maybe this opens the door for the return of the ichabod. what once seemed so wrong with him, maybe seems so right again? but, then again the CBS suits may think he's to old for their pre 20, unmusically educated immature pop country production rice burner drivin' seattlelite demographics they aim for.

i'll let my buddy, shooter jennings have a rant here, with a few lyrics to his new song "outlaw you", which sounds like one of yours trulys radio info.com rants from last year...

"i get home from a long day, put on the radio, lookin for some country soul, i dont find it no, its a dirt road free for all. some home boy saying they're outlaw, they dress the part, and they talk the talk, you know they've been told to walk the walk, these boys think they're tough...........hey pretty boy in the baseball hat, couldnt hit country with a baseball bat, country aint just about where your at, its about bein true of whats inside of you. you say your an outlaw with your perfect boots that you got from your record labels image group, singin another mans songs with a big drum loop. listen son you aint got a clue. you cant buy true. i'll tell you what they should do, they should outlaw you!"

thanks shooter. when your daddy, waylon came to town for a concert and interview with KPMS, in the 80's, he actually poked ridicule at their format, and tight playlist of popified country. KPMS was always good at heavily rotating two big waylon hits from the 70's, but ignoring most all the single releases there after.

hey KPMS, hows about doing country music a real favor and firing your pathetic decades old musically speeded up, noised up, modified up, pop country tired format, and switching to urban hip rap rhythym!

I love your rants and raves Scott. ;D I feel a rant coming...

Why does KMPS play the same power cuts over and over? Every time I listen I hear that Brad Paisley/Carrie Underwood "Remind Me" song or Billy Currington's Pretty Good at Drinking Beer. Where's the older singles?

Also, why do you do those old introductions to the songs, i.e. "Hi this is Kellie Pickler and this is my new single Tough"? Gets old after a while.

@ scott salvatori, LOVE the rant man!! Unfortunately the "musical talent" of Shooter is not even close on the KMPS/CBS radar.
In fact I'd have to guess that 99.9% of the listener base of KMPS/KKWF have NO idea who he OR his daddy are.
As far as the "inside source" of them getting fired I could understand CBS firing them as they were NOT a big "high energy" "Zoo" type morning show. Unfortunately the "powers that be" seem to think this is what MOST want. Why/who?? wants to hear that type crap in the morning? i don't want some loud mouth yahoo screaming his agenda(or bragging about how great he is) to me at 6:00am no matter how many good songs the station plays.

Big rumor: CBS courting Fitz and putting a TV show on the network
in front of him.....Dangle the carrot!

Sorry to burst the bubble, but Fitz just signed a new contract with Entercom that already includes a TV show AND a syndicated countdown. That was last month's news.

Funny....I interviewed Waylon before he died about Shooter's music, and he never thought it was country either.

what is country? when you look at that big old country music oak tree, one big trunk that spurred off decades ago, is outlaw country. a mix of country, rock ,and blues, and whatever else. this trunk includes the likes of waylon, willie, paycheck, hank jr, billy joe shaver, steve earle, hankIII, etc. thank God shooter is a free spirit outlaw country man, and aint pigeon holed hisself as commercial country. if you look at some of shooters music, his southern rockers like "little white lines", would make the L8 GR8 ronnie van zant proud. and my fav "lonesome blues" contains more country pedal steel, than a whole weeks worth of KPMS commercial pop country listening. oh and lets not forget, shooter does have a friend in seattle radio. its bob rivers show. shooter showed up last year played a song, and had a great interview with one of the few good morning shows in this entire USA.

the format is designed for the urban AQH'r. the average seattle/bellevue suburbanite soccer mom who tunes in for 15 minutes, while running the kids to the mall. so they repeat often whatever the current flavor that trashville, and the consultants are pitching to the masses for maximum sales and familiarity. kind of like an infomercial. the intro's are designed to make the listeners familiar with what they are listening to, since so many of todays generic voices sound the same. they also dont back announce the music sets. i think some consultant figured that most listeners tune over to the competiton when the music stops. which is why there is always a fast paced "in your face" music bead playing during the 3 second liner card/slogan reading break by the air talent. there is not much room for any 80's/90's"gold" music here at the PMS. good riddance to most all of the great hits from mark chestnutt, patty loveless, reba, randy travis, sammy kershaw, kathy mattea, kieth whitley, darrel singletary. yipes, i dont dare mention merle, tammy, ricky skaggs, don williams or george jones.

when you look at that big country oak tree.....there are many sucker shoots coming up the side trunk. thsi is all the lame candy coated crap assembly line music the industry is force feeding us.

I love it Scott! No wonder you (and sometimes I) listen to CKMX 1060 when the sun goes down, instead of in-your-face ass clown promotions for a concert every 4.75 minutes and very little if not NO mention of what's playing by the DJ.

Was just up there visiting and they seemed to be impressed that the efforts show up from time-to-time on a SEATTLE gossip board!

Doesn't matter. This isn't a music board. It's a radio board. Radio stations play whatever music attracts large audiences they can sell. You get bogged down in the "what is country" debate, but when it comes to programming a radio station, it doesn't matter.

Commercial radio stations are designed to make money, period. Somewhere inside those tight lines some of us get to have a good time and make a little $ too.
My money is on Ich, but I've heard several other names tossed about.

KMPS is trying to lose its perception of being the "old" country station, doubtful they would bring Ichabod back.
