Cannot connect to DSPXtra for firmware update...

I'm trying to update a DSPXtra from 2.10 to 2.40, but it seems the serial connection cannot be established.
Followed the BW manual and 'read this first' to the letter. Tried 2 W7 PC's first, then switched to XP. Still no success...

Sugestions?

Haven't gone into mine for awhile, but I seem to recall you have to go in through the front panel switch between network or serial interface. Can't have both at the same time.

That's correct, switched remote to 'serial'

Mine found duty elsewhere. What are your port settings?
port settings are (like described in READ ME file): 19200, 8, None, 1 with hardware flow.

Mighty weird issue there.Try a reboot of processor and pc.Port may have locked.Never had that issue, but ethernet sometimes gave me brain damage. You might contact BW,haven't seen scott on here in awhile..

This is what I've tried so far:
- the DSPXtra Remote software connects just fine through the serial connection, I can control the Xtra
- when I try to connect with HyperTerminal too it says connection is already in use (which is correct offcourse)
- I shut down the DSPXtra Remote software and restart HyperTerminal
- I try to send the file to the Xtra through Hyperterminal, but it just doesn't respond
- After a while the connection times out and Hyperterminal tells me there is no response from the remote system

I checked a thousand times and I'm convinced I'm using the right settings for both Xtra and Hyperterminal :-(

Now i remember that little booger. The trick was to start hyper, count a second them hit download on the processor.don't do both at the same exact moment. It would always take several tries to finally get it to work.BTW, i think booger in jolly old england means bastard, you get the idea:)..Maybe Scott will chime in one day...

Now that's new info. But hit download on the processor, how do I do that? There is no mention of it anywhere?

bootload....i meant. you;ll eventually get it done.I can't remember if i started the hyperlink then a second later hit bootload or vice versa. Have fun.

Thank you, thank you, thank you ;D
First start sending file in HyperTerminal, then hit bootload.

What does this update offer ?
Coming from v2.10:

v2.11 Operating system re-build that supports new LCD screens, minor fixes to the AES output.
v2.20 Added pilot protection filter. Improved filtering in the multiband and final clipper stages to reduce distortion. Bass clip shape now affects Hard clipper as well. Changes in the integration of the bass clipper, mid clipper and HF clipper with the main clipper.
v2.30 Added the ITU BS.412 power limiter. If there is no ITU BS.412 regulation in your country, you don't need this update! Please be advised that if you turn the ITU limiter on, it will drastically reduce the loundess of your signal (as required by the ITU BS.412 standard).
v2.39 Fixed intermittent problem of MPX loss
v2.40 improved power glitch handling

I guess just following the instructions in the readme file was too difficult? ;)

Wow, you haven't updated in a while. Those are some of things I've worked on, 4 years ago....

Nope, I just assumed Hyperterminal would send the file to the Xtra, after which I would have to hit 'bootload' to let it reload the new firmware...
Well, as we all know: assumption is the mother of all f*ckups

Bought this unit secondhand to replace BPP...
BTW: Have any nice presets lying around? If so please contact me.
