can't believe Mike said that

I head that and instantly it suprised me. Another thing was in the WTDS segment, the guys were talking about womans breasts and Donavon said the phrase "anything more than a mouthful is a waste". No one even flinched or mentioned it at all, just kept talking like he was talking about the weather. Some of these guys are pushing the limits and I guess being the #1 rated sports station allows you to just make up the script as they go with no fear of the FCC?!?

I listen to a lot of Hardline, and that's the most shocking thing I think I ever heard Mike say. Maybe "queer" isn't the homophobic slur it once was, but I don't see how there's not at least a little blowback from it.

"Queer" might not be the homophobic slur it once was, depending on how it's used, but "rolling queers" is pretty offensive. The term is basically used by someone who thinks it's cool to see a (perceived) gay person, beat the crap out of him/her and take off. (I didn't hear it, so I can't speak to the context of the comment. Maybe he was criticizing someone who thought "rolling queers" was fun.)

Replace "queer" with one of many other groups, and it would be offensive.

What planet are you people from? Call the FCC bc he said ‘rolling queers’. Someone should roll you for writing that. Give me a break.

Nobody is saying the FCC should be involved. It's just not the most politically correct thing to say.

The discussion was about the high school deaths at Coppell this week, and drifted to about people they knew who died while they were in high school. Rhynes described how one of his schoolmates died doing "that." The schoolmate ran into the wrong person for doing "that," he said.

When taken in contest of "back in the day" it's not that shocking.

PC in any way, shape, form or fashion will be the death of this country.

Somebody has to report it before it really becomes an issue. I can hardly listen (and rarely do) due to all the juvenile chat.

OK, I re-read it. What part of "Somebody has to report it" did I get wrong..?

I did not say somebody "should" report it. I'm not going to argue about this with you further as you are obviously fishing for something. The last word is yours. :)

you’re right, you said ‘someone HAS TO report it”, not ‘should’, but more like MUST. Anyway, I’m going to guess that they slipped by the FCC on it this one time? Russ Martin talks about peeing on people, and taking dumps on one another, but that must be within obscene guidelines. I can see that a homosexual may have been offended.

Not to single out your reply (as others had similar remarks) but I disagree. I can't speak for BenB but I didn't make that assumption at all. Let me suggest that had he worded it a little differently maybe there wouldn't be any misunderstanding. Try this: "someone would have to report it for it to become an issue with the FCC."

As with most other issues, investigation of what Mike or anyone else said would likely be handled on a "complaint" basis only. In other words, the FCC generally doesn't go around looking for potential violations of the rules...they act on complaints from listeners or other broadcasters, many of whom have axes to grind. That's not "today's" FCC or the new and improved FCC.gov, it's that way it has been for years.

being just a tourist to D/FW - I only keep up on
the radio dial when I check in here, and visit...

But agrees with this thread::::as this is a touchy issue..
while the F Bomb wasn't dropped, or the S##t didn't hit the fan,
in agreement: certain phrases while permitted, should not be said..

this one in particular, I am not in.different..but things like
"retard" I am shock is still in the free speech(on the airwaves)...
among a few others that are said in passing... but the R word to
me is most offensive..

Thanks, JD. You do indeed get it.
