Chris McCoy gone?
I wanted to verify another post on this board so I went to the B101 site. The post is correct, all mention of Chris McCoy is gone. WOW! What, was his contract up for renewal? The grapevine babble about the departure of Joan Jones a few years ago was that she wanted an increase when her contract was up for renewal and BEE said buh bye. If Chris is truly gone then I hope it was his own doing. As a Philly morning man who was known for being a "nice guy" he could be unemployed for a long time. It's a different story if he's willing to relocate. But then, a part of what makes one a nice guy is the desire to provide stability for their family. It's a tough choice.

All Access blew it !!
All Access blew this one big time. They had a couple of people give them leads on the story, but they never followed up on the story of Chris McCoy at B-101. R&R or Inside Radio will beat All Access to the story on Monday morning. Then everyone will know.

Given that B ran TV ads featuring Chris and Tiff during the Holiday Season, this sudden departure does seem rather strange.

From what I understand, this was not by his choice, which is a shame after all Chris McCoy has done for that station. Chris and JJ, and then Chris and Tiffany, were great, and in my opinion, the perfect morning team for B101. I just don't understand the thinking behind firing a guy who has a huge name in the market, a long track record of success, and a big following. The speculation is that B is going in a whole new direction, and they'll pair Tiffany up with another woman. An all-female morning team.
Any idea where Chris could land? WJJZ still needs a morning guy, right? Chris' old producer/sidekick Jason Lee is at BEN-FM, but he's working with Dave Cruise, and i think it's a good show as is. Would CC dump Whoopi and put Chris on 106.1? Let the rumors begin.
On another B101 note, who is that new woman on in the early afternoon. Tonya King I think is her name.

Unbelievable! First LTW puts two women together in NYC and now B is going to do it? Why all the sudden rush to put a radio version of "The View" on A/C radio stations in the morning? Especially on stations whose shows have performed well? I'll take the chemistry of a man and a woman anyday than two women. Or two men..for that matter on A/C stations. Let the cat fights begin...MEOW...

To all PD's of all Philadelphia PA radio stations: I'm asking one Philadelphia radio station to please have at least one male on-air host in morning drive. Philadelphia is the number seven market and we should have male hosts on during morning drive.

There was an item in the Philly Inquirer January 8, 2007 that B101 left Chris McCoy go last Thursday. He was the only reason I listened to that station in the morning.

The Inquirer had a blurb about Chris so it is official that B101 let him go. I don't want the veiw on radio!
I was a long time listener of the morning show on B101 with Chris and JJ and then Chris and Tiffany. I feel like I know him. He was an honest, open great guy. Lets start the push to get him on 106 instead of Whoppi!
In the am, I would leave my radio dial on B101. On the way home, I am a button pusher. Now I will be a button pusher in both directions!

Yes, Chris is gone!! He told me that he had seen it coming, being treated differently by management the past several months. He got a good severance package and has a 6-month no-compete clause for the Philly/South Jersey area. I'm sure he'll land on his feet. I was really ticked off when they let JJ go, but kept listening because of Chris. If I find out he gets on at another station I'm right there with him. JJ landed on her feet at 1210AM with Michael Smerconish.....I'll bet Chris will do the same.
The guy on in the morning with Tiffany is Bill Tafrow, but I also heard that they want to go with an all-woman format. I'm a woman, and I'm outta here if they do that. I already don't like the one on in the afternoon - she's got too much of a radio voice, if that makes sense to anyone.
