Can't change my e-mail to a different address

I've been having a longstanding issue with the site where all the forum and post notifications from RD get sent to Gmail's spam folder no matter how many times I report them as not being spam. I finally got fed up enough with missed notifications that I changed my account e-mail to the one used for my website, but then it said I needed to confirm that e-mail address. A confirmation e-mail never arrived in that inbox no matter how many times I clicked on resend.

I tried a third e-mail address and it too never received any kind of confirmation e-mail. In both attempts nothing showed up in the their respective spam folders, either.

Instead, I was able to reactivate my Gmail address and it did receive a confirmation e-mail (to the spam folder again) but now I'm back to getting notifications that either don't show up at all or go straight to the spam folder.

From what my research has gathered there is a misconfiguration in the RD email system that makes some services like Outlook and Gmail think it's spam, no matter how often us end users say otherwise. I've set up a rule to never send these mails to spam but Gmail ignores it because of the misconfiguration.

Is there anything that can be done, either to fix the spam folder issue, or to allow other e-mail addresses to receive the confirmation e-mails? I basically never participate here anymore because I don't receive notifications and forget to check every day manually.

I have spent many hours the past few months looking into email exchange servers and there is nothing configured incorrectly. The issue is the many years under previous management regimes they did not have proper email spam record settings in place that led to many email providers blacklisting the domain. It takes time for them to see that the site is legitimately configured with proper records as it has been since moved to my server this spring.

I can manually update your email address in the backend, please DM me with what you want it changed to.

Lance, I don't know if this is a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease, but ever since I posted this thread, I've been receiving notification emails on my Gmail account. I'll hold off on changing it unless it stops working again.
