CANT HEAR WHILE RECORDING WITH USB MIC ON ADOBE 3.0

My new digital mic records and plays back okay in both single & multi track on Audition 3.0, but I can't hear myself thru USB mic while recording back (plugged into Mac Mini USB port). not once have I been able to hear anything live go thru this USB mic. I thought I tried every setting under the sun under "audio hardware setup" on Audition 3.0........anyone else ever have this? Or is a USB mic even supposed to be heard in realtime while recording? I feel THIS CLOSE!! :-\

I don't think the fact that your input is a USB mic has anything to do with your ability to hear at the output what is being input. That is usually a function of your sound board and it's drivers.

Now you can raise the objection that since the USB mic is not using a "sound board"... that may be what is complicating your life. I don't use phones and monitor myself as I am recording, so I haven't spent time figuring out how to get output of the live input during a record process. In fact, I turned off that feature several years ago so I would not get feedback from the monitor speakers when I went into record mode.

I use Audition 2.0 and an analog mic. I will play with the settings after awhile to see what my setup would permit if I decided to start monitoring during record.
