I just have been listening to Jim Rome on KTKR 760AM and heard 5 minutes of bumper/filler music instead of commercials. I wonder if this was a result of a technical glitch or inability to sell commercials? Or both? Five whole minutes is an eternity in radio for profit and I'm sure that a station would need the revenue instead of J Stew's music selections. Unless CC is so well off that they can spare the few listeners they have the usual barrage of ads, unlike KTSA 550AM, which seems to be a nonstop infommercial with a sprinkling of program. I also have noticed that KTKR and WOAI are the only stations where one can hear all of those highly informative public service announcements. This is especially true during the night on Coast to Coast AM nutzo show and sometimes during Jim Rome. These are the only CC stations that I monitor on a regular basis. Do the other CC stations, AM or FM, have the same problem? And just to be fair, that new sports station KZDC 1250AM has some PSA and blank spots instead of commercials, too. But I guess thats due to their 'newness' in the market. But they don't offer much difference than KTKR. In fact, they sort of sound the same, only the names have been changed to protect the guilty.
