Boy it would be nice if this was a constructive board not a criticism board.

There are plenty of people who view this board who have been successful in the radio world.

There are some things that I have read on here that are totally uncalled for.

If you slam anyone in the Simpson family, especially Cary, you obviously have never met the man. If I could become half the person that Cary Simpson is, I will have viewed my life as successful.

Ted has been a lifelong friend. He put his first station on the air at 19 when his parents went on vacation with WIYQ as an automated country station and they came home and it was a live CHR.

Dave McCall are Tommy Edwards very good broadcast professionals. They both have been successful programmers in Central Pa and both could have moved to larger markets, but love the life in Central PA.

Hilton and I have butted heads a few times in the past, but I think we are both respectful of the talent that each has.

AJ has been so loyal at the Revolution. He is a hard worker and has improved greatly since he started all those years ago.

I respected Christian Myers when he was on B/Beaver. He always put on a good morning show.

Kevin Nelson is always entertaining to listen to. I grew up listening to Dave Shannon on Q-94 before making the journey to State College.

Be realistic, there is plenty of talent in your small town. For the people who are part-timers, learn from them.

Have a great day.

Thanks John. I don't know if I was a successful programmer, but thanks for the nice words. Tommy lasted over twice as long as the previous two WPRR PDs combined!

Tommy and Dave,

I always enjoyed when we worked together. We had fun and did some good radio. Betar's for everyone. Speaking of Betar's, is Rich Dennis the Morning Pennis out of the big house yet?

dave, you were a good programmer...i learned from you also...
you didn't know at the time, when you were yelling at the sales
manager, that she was sleeping with the owner!!!! it was you or
her, and she had a nicer rack than you!!!!!

Ruthie did get around didn't she?

I still can't imagine Gary sleeping with her. I thought he led the alternate persuasion lifestyle.

I know we all learned so much from Ray Horner. Ha Ha, what a freaking pin head.

del Amitri and Jude Cole for everyone.

Rich is doing SOME voiceover work for someone....I hear his voice on Channel 10 from time to time. Let's not bee too rough on him. He was well loved by his audience and the guy had a hard time....Not much unlike Sean McKay...damn drugs will get you everytime! I can hope he has leared a lot and will stay clean and sober!

Sorry Steve,

Was never a big fan of Rich as a jock or as a person. Never had any talent, never on time and always acted like he was better than the world.

If he cleans himself, that is great. Nobody will take a flyer on him anymore. Forever owns everything and he blew that and I don't see Simpsons letting him in the door.

Oh...never said I though he was a great talent...but for whatever reason, his audience LOVED HIM! Trust me...I spent many an overnites at PRR heading over to the AM side to make sure music was on the air cause Richie was running late as usual...but once he got in...the people just took to him like flies!

I thought that was Gamber's job?

Jude Cole is under-rated! At least I think so. I played every Jude Cole track they released. Probably one of the reasons I'm no longer programming.

Now that is a name I have not heard in a while! Jerry Gamber, AKA: Darrell Ray's boy! Used to take pride in those hand written music schedules! Anyone from PRR remember the day Darrell had a megaphone?

Dave, our differences aside, you were a very good programmer!

Not sure if I remember that. I remember moving Jerry's car around the lot when he would let his keys lay around. We had conviced him that Walter Jackson had a duplicate set of his car keys.

I remember when Darrell would have Jerry do "dramatic readings" of song lyrics on the air. Darrell would always change a line or two, which would cause Jerry to storm out of the studio.

Actually Scott...when Forever took over WPRR and Gamber lost his job once and for all, he was actually featured in the local paper as part of a story of the real people who were effected by media consolodation. Jerry took it very hard...as you know the little he did on the air was his life.

I ran into Jerry once a while back and he said how happy he was for the time he had at PRR/VAM, but he pretty much knew hed never do it again...gotta feel sorry for the guy. In many ways, while he was the butt of many jokes from crew over the years...he loved the biz and in some ways, he became sort of a local hero when that article hit the papers.

Hey...I just noticed Scott St. John, McCall and Myself all on the forums at the same time...Bob McCarty anyone...get him in here and we'd have the makings of a air staff...oh wait...been there done that! HA HA

Wow,

Who would have thought that I would ever become a peace maker.

It's nice to see people not complaining at each other.

Amazing. Next thing you will know, I am on the air in Milwaukee.

Sorry to hear about Jerry, he was a good guy and usually took the jokes in stride.

Bob lives in Maryland and works for the Discovery Channel. Bithell ran into him recently in Berkely Springs WV.
Edited by McCall on 06/14/05 02:08 AM.
