When I was home, I did notice that WCOD has changed to a slightly different AC format - it's almost less of a hot AC station now. They are playing a lot more John Mayer, Howie Day, etc. and less of the Beyonce, Usher, etc.. Also, they took away some of the new wave 80s music they had, like new order, the cure, etc.
I was also told to listen to The Wave, which is sounding good. I'm not a huge oldies fan, so I never had bothered to listen, but they are playing some good old rock tunes from the 50s and 60s that you certainly can't hear on the restricted playlist of The Rocket.
I think that WCOD may be wanting to create more of a clear seperation from The Rose (which continues to be pretty rythmic) now that they are both Qantum stations. Makes some sense, I suppose, however WCOD had strong ratings going in to all this so I would have been hesitant to make many changes. We'll see what happens!
