CAPE COD RADIO

been quiet on this board ever since the Boch guys stop posting negative thoughts........

new sports radio station coming to town.......traditional AC goes hot ac......is PIXY comin' or goin'?....anyone?....anything?....Bueller??

I just noticed yesterday that there's a gaggle of Horizon Christian Fellowship FM translators down on the Cape that're all on the silent station list at the FCC. Anyone know the reason why?

Just curious...

BTW, WGBH just put a new LPFM on in Martha's Vineyard. It is on 107.9. Even though it is only a couple of dozen watts, it now wipes Kiss from Boston off the map around Falmouth and Buzzards' Bay. Not to say that the Boston FMs were an easy catch down there, but on a good portable radio--or a car radio--you can get most. But not much you can do if a station is right-on frequency, like this new station is.

I'm being nitpicky...it's not an LPFM, it's W300BE, a FM Translator. Technically it's licensed to Nantucket Public Radio and parented to WNCK 89.5 out on Nantucket. But yes, as far as I know, WNCK is a one-for-one repeater of WGBH.

I wonder why they did it to WNCK instead of WGBH proper? It's been a while, but I vaguely remember WGBH as putting a fairly booming signal into the Islands whereas WNCK is pretty limited to Nantucket itself, and the south-side elbow of the Cape...?

If you're talking about WEEI going on 102.9, that's not going to happpen, that deal fell through months ago.

I listen to 95.1 WXTK from Rhode Island. I'm pretty much on the outer fringe of the signal area, but I live close enough to a body of water where I guess it helps the signal out a little. I actually picked up the station in Warwick, Rhode Island yesterday. That's got to be more than 90 miles from the transmitter. I think the transmitter is in Yarmouth. Nice Power.

As far as I know Pixy isnt going anywhere. That being said You can never be sure. Since the Rocket left we are the only rock station on the Cape so I dont see why we would go away. Over the last 4 books our 12+ has steadily gone up, which doesnt mean much but I guess it cant be bad.

Does ANYONE know how to access the numbers for the other demographics? I know they are top secret but someone HAS to know where to see 'em

Pixy 103 is the best Rock station around. I think it's better than 94 HJY in Providence. Unfortunately the signal is weak where I live.

get your hands on a physical ratings book is the only way i know how.......

I had to work on the Cape last week, I had the GPS plugged in so I didn't have XM on. I think Cool 102, and Pixy 103 are better than any music stations in Boston. I liked the old Rocket 104.7 better than the Ocean format they have now.
