Cape Hatteris, NC without a CHR

How come Cape Hatteris is without a CHR? What happened to Power 92.3? Also without CHRs are Butte, MT, Fredricksville, MD, Dover, DE

Cape Hatteras is irrelevant, but the Elizabeth City/Outer Banks market does lack CHR. You can get the Hampton Roads' Hot 100.5 in some of the market but not all.

Power 92.3 was dumped for ESPN (which later migrated to 97.1) and then became a simulcast of Classic Hits 104.9.

OBX is strange radio market overall-

2 country stations
1 Hot AC
1 classic hits (simulcast over 2 stations)
1 classic rock
1 AAA
1 active rock
1 gospel
1 urban/rhythmic
1 oldies
1 FM sports
1 AM news/talk

With the most recent flip of 96.7 away from mainstream AC, the market is missing two of the most mass-appeal female formats out there: AC and CHR. It's strange because, in the last ratings I saw, the Hot AC, Beach 104, dominated. You'd think someone would want to take them on.

To my knowledge, there's no more ratings there though. Arbitron didn't see enough demand.

That's the thing Beach 104 kills all that try....Power 92.3 (CHR) and Mix 96.7 (AC), but Hot 100.5 can get Eliz City but once you get to Kill Devil Hills that is gone.

Cape Hatteras appears to have no stations, but anything out of Eliz City or Kill Devil Hills can be heard down there....it has nothing but water blocking it, lol. (Back in the day 90's you could get CHR 1037/963 the HOT FM in Cape Hatteras, but that station is gone too)
