VETERAN LOCAL radio reporter Robin Colbert had a ready answer to the question of why she is leaving WTDY-AM/1670 for WIBA-AM/1310. Wouldn't anyone, Colbert asked, jump at the chance to boss around her dad?

A bit more seriously, she added, "The chance to work with him is a big reason for this. "

Colbert's dad is longtime WIBA newsman John Colbert, and Robin will indeed be his boss when she becomes news director at WIBA next spring.

Colbert's last day at WTDY, where she has worked eight years, is Friday. She must then sit out a standard six-month "non-compete" clause in her contract before joining WIBA, likely around April 1. Colbert will not be idle during those six months, however: She'll be reading the news at WRIT-FM in Milwaukee, a station owned by Clear Channel, the radio behemoth that also owns WIBA in Madison. ...
