It may not rank with the Great Polka Flap of 1991, but let it be noted here that the first spoken words in Oliver Stone's new movie "World Trade Center" are those of former Madison area radio exec Lee Harris.
Now the morning news anchor at 1010 WINS in New York City, Harris doesn't actually appear in the film, which re-enacts the inspiring true saga of two Port Authority cops who survived the World Trade Center carnage.
But when Lt. John McLoughlin (Nicolas Cage) turns on the radio while driving to work in the opening scene, he hears WINS' signature slogan, "All news, all the time, you give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world." That's followed by the first few seconds of Harris' actual broadcast that day: "Good morning, it's Tuesday, 64 degrees, and here's what's happening," and then goes on to note that it's primary election day and that voters will be deciding among 250 candidates. ...
