Capitol buys WDNC/WCLY; Curtis gets NCNN/WRBZ

"The Buzz simulcasts 99.9"
I don't think so when both stations are owned by two different companies. Expect 850 to go music in the next 3-4 weeks.

At least for the month of November, it'll be a simulcast.

The Buzz simulcasts 99.9" BUZZ BENNETT??? I thought he was dead// way over you youngin's heads!!BIGAPE

Since "Cory" has posted the same notice on other boards he must be pretty happy about the hard working WRBZ people losing their jobs. So who is this visionary? A former 850 employee who couldn't cut it, or is he part of Dave's sad crew at the fan? You know the station that couldn't get it done with all the toys and tools and payroll on earth? Very amusing "Cory."

Nov 2 is D-day. Buzz simulcasts 99.9. DNC shuffles the lineup. Several McClatchey employees lose their jobs.

Sounds like something's going on with The Bull... what happened to the Packman? I tuned in yesterday and got Sporting News Radio. Is the Packman still on The Bull, and will he remain in the lineup once Capitol takes over?

Just one of the 10+ year employees at the Buzz getting let go. And, no, I can't really say I'm happy about it.

Had a t1 line go down, and lost the connection to the Packman. He's supposed to stick around on DNC, although not the full 4 hours.

My apologies Cory. No one in their right minds could have really believed Raleigh could support three sports stations. Once Capital got in the game with all their deep pockets it was only a matter of time until something like this happened.

Good luck to you and the other 850 people in your job search.

Maybe 850 will bring back the "Music Of Your Life" format
We can only hope.

It wasn't called that, though it's really good. Jeff Rollins and Chick Watkins, who were on 850 AM in the early 90s, are on the station I listen to. They tried going more contemporary a few years ago, but they came to their senses about the time my station picked them up, and ever since Jones discontinued their format and Carl Hampton moved over, they've been sounding even better.

I don't guess the car radio I have now will pick them up, though. But with Country Legends 98.3, I don't even really miss the music when I'm out of range.

I am very sorry Cory and others will be losing their jobs. I am not a "radio person" so I would have know idea what that feels like. I can only gauge the bad radio job market on the many, many posts I have read on this site. Also, "The Cash Cage" by Cory Deitz, (not a plug), seems like it paints a negative picture about job security in the radio business.

I am sorry about straying away from the topic at hand.

Bomani Jones ended his last Saturday WRBZ show about 20 minutes ago. We've lost Tony Rigsbee, too. Along with their competent producers.

Two class acts, no longer available.

It's quite sad.

We've lost Tony Rigsbee, too.

Now that IS sad. He's been on radio and/or TV all of his life in this market.

I had the privilege of working with him in the late-70's at WTIK. A very professional newscaster in a place not known to be appreciative of professional work.

I'm not sure of his age, but I hope he's eligible for Social Security now. Broadcasting, even in the Triangle, is not known for having a good retirement plan.

Later . . . .

I do not understand something...(well many things!)

If Capital Broadcasting has the Sports Stations..
If Curtis Media has the News Stations.......WHAT ARE THE NEWS STATIONS??? (besides WPTF)

Or maybe I have the whole thing wrong!

Please help! ???
