CapRadio cuts 12% staff and cancels shows

You've made an assumption about my political preference, then used a stereotype to paint me into your desired mold.
Well, now. If I needed lessons on stereotyping, I think I know where to go. You have painted public radio with the broadest of brushes and have accused it of political bias without demonstrating any evidence.

Good Lord (to coin a phrase). In Denver alone, public radio comprises:
  • CPR (Colorado Public Radio) Classical (KVOD, KCFR-HD2)
  • KGNU, a Boulder station modeled somewhat on the Lorenzo Milam model; also has an AM station and translator in Denver
  • KUVO, a part of Rocky Mountain PBS, a jazz station
  • KUVO-HD2 and a translator, broadcasting hip-hop as "The Drop"
  • KUVO-HD3 and a translator for Denver Open Media with a similar concept to KGNU
  • CPR News, the NPR member station (KCFR)
  • KUNC, the NPR member station for Greeley, Fort Collins, etc.
  • Indie 102.3, Colorado Public Radio's AAA station (KVOQ)
  • The Colorado Sound, KUNC's AAA station (KJAC)
  • KVCU, the student station, on AM, at the University of Colorado
Some other areas may not have as wide a range of choices but the point is clear; there's a variety of services and viewpoints represented.

In the Bay Area, there's a ton of lower-powered student stations: KCEA, KFJC, KALX, KZSU, etc. and I'm not even getting into the Diablo Valley stuff that doesn't make it out to other areas.

You have complained that moderators should squelch this discussion because you are feeling attacked. No, you're being asked to back up your assertions and you haven't done that. What it appears you're looking for instead is censorship. There's a difference between moderation and censorship.

I think that most student operated stations are going to have a progressive or liberal perspective. There are plenty of statistics about the left or right orientation of people by age group.

Further, the Administration of most colleges and universities tends to be anywhere from centrist to the progressive side. So we should expect that in opinion and commentary based programming such stations as those operated by colleges will reflect. Their political and social orientation.
There's a constituency that I think you're forgetting about, at least for some universities: alumni. I've witnessed at least one instance where some powerful alumni helped stop a power grab and kept a student-run station intact, as it is to this day. Especially at public universities these days, alumni are a critical constituency for fundraising and the bigger contributors - as well as the development function - are crossed at one's peril.

Generally, the programming produced by undergraduate students without intense supervision, tends to be a batch of progressions of individual student’s tastes, and preferences with little or no consideration of who might listen or who might want to listen.
Generally, yes. On the other hand, I highly recommend the student run stations at Syracuse, Emerson, and Seton Hall.

In the three examples I list, the alumni are very supportive. Especially at WJPZ.

And his followers support his lifestyle as his brand of faith includes the tenet that following the Bible will lead to prosperity.
I am definitely not a follower. But Osteen is open and honest about his lifestyle and uses it to show that prosperity follows people of faith.
I'm not a religious person, but I thought Jesus said something like "It's easier for a camel pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven".? Something else about you cannot serve two masters -- God and Money. Osteen is a shameless salesman. His pitch is effective on many, but it's not worthy of respect.

Public Radio isn't selling salvation or prosperity. They ask listeners to support the programming. They don't promise wealth, health or eternal life. Malfeasance by upper management should be punished no matter if it's Cap Cities, EMF, Audacy, or any other Radio group...

I wasn't bitter until I started getting attacked on this forum. I can't get over the unmoderated hostility here. Didn't used to be like this years ago. Moderators would not have tolerated such uncivil conduct.

The problem is youve made some fairly big untoward claims with no evidence to back them up, no links to substantiate things.... and in general, in history.. the people whove made the claims you do typically come from and/or watch the same news outlets.

This is hardly attacking you, if we were being nasty, trust me, youd know.. and this is nothing compared to disagreements over politics that take place on social media

You appear to simply not wanna discuss things with and get offended by people you disagree with.

"I love big lobbies and I cannot lie." Those are the secret lyrics to the All Things Considered theme, you know.
Also, if you record a fund drive and play it backwards, you'll hear:

Our anacondas don't want none

unless you got funds, hun

On a cold day in much of the U.S., let's warm ourselves up despite the snow by revisiting the connection between lobbies, public radio, and rear ends, courtesy of public-radio station KCUR in Kansas City (when I saw this today, I thought of the direction this thread had taken for a while):

To really work right-wingers' nerves, here's the same story in Spanish:
