Car Stereo/PA System Experiment Continues (ATTN: RobStutson)

Hey everyone.

Non-engineer still putting together his PA System for remote events with a car stereo.

I've got all the parts and everything works.

The problem is, MOUNTING everything.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to mount a car stereo in the rack, along with mounting the power supply?

Like I said, I'm a complete idiot, so if it's a simple answer... I more than welcome any and all feedback.

Thanks!!

Adjustable brackets. Just screw the psu to the rack on the inside.
______________

Take a look at this:

I Googled "rack car stereo", BTW.

Hi

You could always mount the setup in an old computer case! - use a blank panel in a 5 1/2 inch bay & mount the car stereo & maybe even use the computer's power supply to run the stereo.

Tricky bit would be to get the switchmode power supply to start.

The computer case Idea is not bad, but ditch the internal power supply and install a Radio Shack supply--3 to 5 amp.

Computer supply probably too small.

What ever you use, don't forget to allow for air movement for cooling. Both power supply and radio will get warm, especially if you carry the unit out into the hot sun

You'd need an external antenna...and the case would affect AM. A computer psu is really noisy, too.
______________

The antenna isn't a problem--just drill a hole in the case, & mount it like you would on a fender.

But you're definitely right about the switched power supply. Some can be major hash generators.
