Cards/DBacks Conflict

Not "what will they do next year?" but now...

I thought the DBacks were number two in the pecking order
(behind the Suns) as far as having their games on KT'R when
there was a conflict--with the Cards and ASU fighting it out
for numbers three and four.

Yet this (Sunday) afternoon the Cards are on 620 while the
DBacks game is banished to KMVP 860.

Is this perhaps a one-time only "special occasion" what with it
being the NFL opener in the new stadium, sold out, etc.?
No doubt with the permission of DBacks management, based on
the pecking order theory above.

This scenario has also worked in the DBacks' favor on occasion--
on several MLB Opening Days where there was also a Suns game,
the Suns were moved to 860.

My theory would be that football (on a national level) is more popular than baseball. However, I think the DBacks are more popular than the Cards, even with Glendale being sold out.

It could also be that the Cards are only on 16 times per season while the DBacks are on 160+.

I wonder if the DBacks were in the middle on a tight pennant race and the Cards playing their first game, which team would be shifted to MVP?

And now with KTAR announcing plans for KTAR on FM they have still another outlet for professional play by play.

If TMISU are serious about keeping KTAR-FM as strictly news and talk, my guess is that sports overflow will go on 98.7 if they don't keep 860.
