Carl Baker - Q100, Hot 99.9, WEEX

It was recently reported in the newspaper that Carl Baker passed away in his home on July 1, 2007, he was 56. Baker worked for the many incarnations at 99.9 FM, including Q100, Hot 99.9, Oldies 99 and also at WEEX-AM 1230. He also received several awards from The Associated Press during the 1990's. His real name was Cal J. Bader, Jr. and he most recently resided in Palmer Twp.

Was his father the announcer for the Allentown Wings? The A-Town Wings were in a Summer League for College baseball players who had potential to make it Professionally. Jeff Kunkel (Texas Rangers) and Terry Mulholland (Phillies, Cubs, Giants, Indians, Twins, Yankees, D-Backs, and Indians) were the most notable players who made the Big Leagues. I recall an older gentleman known as Carl Bader who announced the players at Bicentennial Park.

Carl also worked at WKAP when they were doing Music of Your Life. That was my first job in radio and Carl was awesome to work with.

As noted in the other thread... I knew Cal for 30 years. He was a good boss, friend, broadcaster. I saw in the newspaper obit that memorials were to go to the Diabetes Association. Did he die from complications of diabetes?
