I did not remember seeing any mention of the recent death of Carolyn Easter Jenkins. Did I overlook it? She died earlier in January according to what I've read elsewhere. She got into radio at WOKJ when she was very young, using the air name Terri Lynn. She was at one time married to Brock Easter, aka Johnny B, who DJed in Jackson, New Orleans, Houston, and elsewhere. She worked at my station, WKXI, during the 70s doing both on-air and off-air work. There she met and married one of my DJs, Al Luv Jenkins. They moved to Gulfport and worked at WQFX AM/FM, Foxy 96. One article said she was the first African American female on the radio in Mississippi, and I'm sure that's correct. She was 75.
