Carr gone all week; who will get the new Imus show?

Howie Carr is taking the whole week off, burning his Entercom-paid vacation time off.

Meanwhile NewsMax says Imus will be back fairly soon (not sure what syndicator)--will he
be on in Boston? Not at 96.9, of course, which has committed to Howie (Imus and Barnicle
are probably p.o.-ed about that!).
So whom would take Imus...would anyone want him? Supp. billed well at 96.9 but who knows.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/7/22/210224.shtml?s=al&promo_code=3788-1

the article notes he prob will be on in NY but Boston is uncertain ("The only other big station he was on is in Boston and that station has already announced a replacement."); otherwise, smaller stations spread
around...

"So whom would take Imus"...was that really bad grammar, or were you surmising that WHOM-FM atop Mt. Washington would alter its format to become the new home of Imus in northern NH?

Imus --if he still has what mojo he had-- could be an hot show in an election year. But I heard he won't be back untill January and without the MSNBC connection I doubt his guest list will be as formidable.
That said, RKO would have to think about it and 1510 too. ESPN is commited to M&M but Imus could help them in this market.

I tuned in yesterday (didn't read this yet), only to find that Howie was taking a vacation with the other 'beautiful people.'

Worse yet, his replacement was Col. David Hunt. Nothing against him but: wow, that man has no pipes! His content may or may not be good - but sadly I can't listen to him long enough to know.

Is this WRKO's future in the afternoon? Yikes!

WRKO has NO Future - 'mourning', afternoon or night !!

"Whom" sounds more classy that "who" :)
About as classy as the alligator in the "Pearls Before Swine" comic strip (currently, not presently, my favorite strip); he consistently uses the objective case as subjects of his sentences: "me hope to eat ze zebra".

I agree that Hunt is unlistenable. But it's made doubly tough when the objective is to find stand-ins who share Howie's ideology. To a great degree, a stand-in needs to be a 'Mini-Me' of Howie, or else Howie would take the blame for a co-host who didn't share his views. And in Boston, I'm not sure how big that available pool is.

Hey Chris, we found something to agree on! I turned on Hunt the other day, it was so awful. I lasted about 5 minutes, after the guy from B&C, and I went back to CDs. When Hunt's on, it is a waste of hours at 'RKO. They should be trying to find someone else to fill that slot because the money's on Carr ... to win.
