Carrie Moten joins KTAR

I was so shocked, out running errand this morning and came across Carrie Moten delivering the news during Bruce St. James Show.

Don't know what this means for Marilyn Hyder.

I will say this Carrie is amazingly professional and every newscast I've caught today of her's has been on key.

Great to hear her back on the radio.

I also wonder if Yetta finally had her baby.

I heard her yesterday on the drive into work on Bruce's show. I thought she sounded great, and her voice is a welcome addition to his show. A great move. After she left John Jay and Rich, I was hoping she would stay in the valley and be brought back to the air. I hope she has a good tenure at 92.3.

Am I the only one who thinks her voice is not cut out for radio? I heard her yesterday on KTAR and was caught off guard as well. She sounds like she's reading off a script. Yes I know they are reading off something, but most announcers make it flow and sound natural, she just doesn't do it. I thought right after hearing her, she's definitely not cut out for talk radio!! She won't last is my opinion.

I did listen to Bruce's show this morning as well as her news casts, and I did enjoy hearing her participate. Yes, I agree...she does need to work on her flow and pace of reading the news, but give her time. Perhaps she just needs a "breaking in" period as she adapts to her new format and environment.

I did enjoy her comments on the show, but if she is going to be there in that capacity, Bruce has to give her time to talk or comment. She would try to start a sentence and he would run over it or out talk her with a comment of his own. So a lot of her comments started with one word, or a partial word, and that was all she was able to get in. I think they both need an adjustment period to get used to this back and forth, give and take style of show. I will keep listening as I enjoy Bruce's show, and see where it goes.

The Master Blogger likes non-radio sounding voices on KT'R...especially the youtes of America. Some of the more recent newsroom hires sound like high schoolers (his PMD'ers sound even less mature!). However the Buckeye Boyz agree that Moten is a much better fit with "Bruce" and will only get better as time goes on.

My opinion is that Bruce's show is very new and is still being established. He has big shoes to fill (taking Ankarlo's place) and with his show being so new and trying to get ratings up and listeners he needs someone along side of him that is experienced in talk radio that can run with what he says, can make comments with out him cutting in, can hold their own because they have the experience behind them in talk radio. I think throwing in someone who's not familiar with talk radio format and or what's required of it and have the beat from the beginning to keep up with the host it's going to end up hurting the show more so than helping it. You need someone seasoned in that position to run with it ... not someone whose just learning the ropes. If it were a show that had been established on the air for a long period of time, had the high ratings (like Ankarlo did) and the listener background and appeal then it might be okay, but with out all of that they need someone who knows what they're doing.

Carrie did well on JJ&R, but that was an entirely different format, the topics were more age appropriate for her and I think she could relate better. Talk radio has very political topics and ones that you have to be quick on your feet and know a lot about in order to be successful.

Bruce has a good show, but he doesn't need to make it a duet.

I like Carrie, but she is not the voice for a news show, sorry.

Bruce can do an entire show by himself, why the need to try to get women to listen by having a sidekick?

(this is also aimed at you, nearly bald one)

I also was not impressed with her voice or delivery and was half expecting her to interject an "Oh my Gawd" into the newscast. She sounded like she was working at a college radio station.

Carrie is nice and cute as a button.

I don't want nice and cute as a button on an AM news/talk show. Sorry, unless you have a dips%(# chat talk show on, I don't want to hear it.

I want intellect and knowledge and an understanding of events on a news talk show (yeah, I understand the complete irony in that statement given the sad nationally syndicated choices we have), not a pretty voice.

Carrie, I love you, just not on a serious show (same to you Michelle Larson).

I like the Bruce show, with just Bruce. Carrie seems like a lovely person, but her voice is just not right for talk radio. She's no Stephanie Miller. Bruce doesn't need a sidekick. Perhaps Carrie would be a better fit working behind the microphone??

For all of you who think that Carrie needs just a little more time to make her craft work, she has been on the radio with JohnJay and Rich in Tucson since 2003. I think that's more than long enough time to get used to being on the radio. I was glad when she was fired from KISS, couldn't stand to hear her voice on the radio. She didn't go to school for broadcasting, she just happened to answer a call when they needed a replacement when their assistant got a better job. Carrie is not professional and when I heard her doing the news thought she was terrible. Guess I won't be listening to KTAR in the morning. Too bad, great radio station.

Carrie's hot because she's had breast augmentation and enhancements from the money that she made at KISS. She posed half naked and had pictures on their website. Nice way for a mother of three girls to be acting, awful role model.

Carrie Moten has been in Marilyn Hyder's on-air spot for several weeks, yet on KTAR's website, Carrie's picture does not appear and Marilyn's still does. It does seem Marilyn Hyder is no longer at KTAR. Where's Carrie's picture? :)

...Carrie just announced on her Facebook page that she's moving to the East Coast. Looks as if her work for Bonneville is all used up...
