Carter Alan is still with WZLX, is he not? He seems to be missing from the WZLX jock page at this moment.

The old one was more functional and looked better. Carter's photo isn't on the Staph page, and Bill Abbatte looks older than Chuck Nowlin
Never heard of Al Cole, but he looks like a cross between Prince/Freddie Mercury/Rocky Horror Picture Show Tim Curry. Face made for radio? Maybe face made for the sequel to Rocky Horror

WLYNgm said:As for WZLX in general, their playlist is far too limited/stale. They really need to broaden their scope. For example - if you play Clapton, DO NOT play Layla, Cocaine, After Midnight, etc. Give those songs a nice, long rest. Overdone - let's hear something else from him. Call it album cuts, deep cuts - whatever. Just something DIFFERENT!

But that being said, as Ray Manzarek noted, "Classic Hits radio is only going to play the hits"... - thus it doesn't matter if it is a Carter Alan... doing the programming, or some intern, it's the same music you'll hear in New York, Los Angeles and most other "classic rockers". The whole thing is so formula. Not Carter's fault, not Chuck Nowlin's fault, not Harvey Wharfield's fault. That's the way CBS wants it.

So Carter is now read in Europe. I sell, Dinky drop ships! But that being said, as Ray Manzarek noted, "Classic Hits radio is only going to play the hits" (paraphrased off my TV show) - thus it doesn't matter if it is a Carter Alan B.(I forget how to spell his last name) doing the programming, or some intern, it's the same music you'll hear in New York, Los Angeles and most other "classic rockers". What purpose does it serve, when all they are concerned with is ratings? Give me the hits! Give me the Hits!!....come on everybody...GIVE ME THE HITS!!....
Exactly my point...a formula that once worked...playing a good song regardless if it was a single.Eli Polonsky said:mcamp said:If the "classic rock" format is so fragile, where as, playing an album track will send the masses in a frenzy, with cars flying off the road while searching for the scan button, why would they even chance it by playing ANYTHING that wasn't a Top 40 hit or better? What I've said about today's majority of Classic and Oldies listeners only wanting to hear their favorite hits doesn't necessarily mean only Top 40 hit singles. Mostly, but there were a few very popular AOR album hits as well that weren't singles which are still very well known. It's whether the audience knows the song, regardless of whether it was a hit single, or a favorite from a hit album.
