If you've spent any time at all on this board over the past few years, you know that the wonderful Carter B. Smith -- he of KSFO, KNBR, Magic 61 and KABL fame -- has been a welcome presence here.

You may have also noticed that Carter has been conspicuously absent from this board for the past few months.

He has been in the hospital, but the good news is that he's back home and is recovering nicely -- and I'm sure that he'd appreciate hearing from all of his friends who hang out here at Radio-Info.com!

Speaking for myself, I'm looking forward to a Greek Salad and an Arnold Palmer with C.B. at Sam's!

One of the class acts in radio for all time. And a great laff, too.

I had the pleasure of working with CB at KNBR after admiring his work at KSFO for 3 decades.....maybe 4 decades.
 
Carter was one of those KNBR personalities who was a real inspriation to me (as were Frank Dill, Mike Cleary, Ron Reynolds, et el.) when I worked in San Jose and up in the Sacramento Valley. Never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but I've been in the same room with him. Hoped some of the greatness would wear off on me. :)

In 1972-73, I had one of the dumbest jobs imaginable -- manually counting traffic for TWELVE hours straight at intersection in Concord, CA. KNBR helped me keep my head together; it was the only station a person could listen to for that long a period of time and not go nuts. Carter B., you were a pleasure to listen to, and I hope you are feeling better. P.S. If anyone cares, I recall a tremendous screwup that Carter made on the annual KQED auction. :eek: Perhaps when he's feeling better, Carter can tell it on himself. I'd prefer to have him tell it.
