“Carter Broadcasting Corporations sells Silent 730 WACE Chicopee/Springfield MA to Holy Family Communications for $200,000.”
Does anyone know if they’re going to keep WCRN Worcester or are they looking to cash out there as well?
Didn't WACE also have a long-running Polish show? There might be more Poles than Irish in Chicopee. The Healys Irish Radio show, which had been heard on WACE 730 since 2016 is now airing on Kool Radio 1270 AM/100.1 FM. The show originally aired on AM 930 in Holyoke moved to what was then WACM 1490 after the Holyoke station went off the air. It remained on WACM 1490 until 2016.
No shortage of elderly Catholics in Chicopee and vicinity. It will likely attract an appreciative, if small, audience, much as WJMJ does in the Hartford area. The station now goes from Evangelical Christian and Barter to Roman Catholic. 5,000 watts days but only 8 watts at night, all non-directional. No translator.

Indeed. WJMJ in the combined April, May and June books was 6th in 12+ in the Hartford market. While the audience is predominantly over 55, that's not a concern with a Catholic station. It simply has a big audience! To compare WJMJ to catholic radio or christian station is like comparing night and day.
WJMJ is much more mainstream and music oriented to an oldies-ish variety.. filled with veteran QWDRC and WRCH air talent and has a bigger audience than you are assuming
Wow! I've never seen any numbers for that station before. They must not be Nielsen subscribers.Indeed. WJMJ in the combined April, May and June books was 6th in 12+ in the Hartford market. Heck, WACE once had a full-powered FM signal (100.5 according to Scott Fybush; 100.3 according to Jeff Miller).Too bad they never got an FM translator.
Fybush (gasp!) is WRONG, if this ad/notice from the North Adams (MA) Transcript from 1950 is accurate!Heck, WACE once had a full-powered FM signal (100.5 according to Scott Fybush; 100.3 according to Jeff Miller).
