CASA 106.7

-juan- said:
Well, if Casa does change formats, who will be responsible? Will it still be a format from Entravision or Liberman?

Liberman is going to have full control of the 5 FMs and the AM. They already have one FM, and are getting 4 more from Entravision. They have given "preview" presentations to some clients, but the "take over" date and time keeps being missed, so all this is prety tentative. Liberman, at least until now, has not networked. There is, however, a plan to network the PM drive on KBUE in LA to other hard-core regional stations but it is in planning stages.

MASTER OF GRAND ILLUSION, David Edward Gleason is not one to go for info. on this. Just wait and see, then respond with a "who cares'?

I see. The changes of format by as many as 5 stations is not of interest?

Another, now 4, dud. Alex Sanchez, the new GM, said today that the stations were to be all moved out of the Entravision facility. So it may be worth checking all the Entravision frequencies periodically.

I wish people wouldn't post stuff on this board unless they know what they are talking about. I'm so sick of rumors that are posted and I believe them and they turn out to be false. Casa is doing several remotes tonight at clubs so obviously there won't be a format change today.

At 5 PM, on 101.7, the Superestrella frequency, Azucar debuted... but it only lasted about 20 minutes. It sounded like they were still dubbing production and stuff onto a digital system, and somehow it got on the air.

It's coming.

so is casa going to flip or is superestrella going to flip?

Like I said, another setback for good radio in dallas...we need more variety, not the same old garbage...C'mon, take a shot at something different, jazz perhaps?

They all are. Liberman will likely not use any of the Entravision formats, so count on the 4 FMs flipping. The AM may stay the same, or Lenard may do a pure Asian brokered format. There is even a rumor of one of the FMs being sold, and others that they will keep them all.

None of the formats Liberman is allegedly going to do exists in Dallas, He is eliminating duplication.

So David, you seem to know what Liberman plans are for his newly acquired stations! You mind spoiling the bubble and letting us know what can we expect? Or at least give us clues?

gtb0014 : That is The Master of Grand Illusion's style. He doesn't know. He will take a few words here and there from others posting, add a few words to make it appear that he does. IF a change is coming then he will use the opportunity to tell you he knew all along, though he doesn't work for Lieberman,or knows anyone there( stand by for A David Edward name drop of afictious nature coming soon) He is now creating a response which no one dares to question.

Not only do I know many people at Liberman (this is the correct spelling, btw), but I was VP & Operations Manager for LBI in its early days.

The apparent plan in Dallas includes 1) a soft norteña station with artists like Límite. 2) La Raza, as is, with hard-core regional Mexican. 3) Azucar with salsa, merengue, pop, etc. 4) "Concierto" which is their consultant's version of a a gold based Mexican AC. What frequencies each is on remains to be seen, and there are 5 total FMs, so either one is spun or there is a 5th format. As shown in LA, Lenard is not adverse to other, non-Hispanic, ethnic programming so not being Spanish langauge is an option.

Those of us not in the building are all guessing based on what the LBI sellers are pitching and the fact that a piece of Azucar actually got on the air yesterday, pretty much confirming that one.

Sounds somewhat different than the Liberman lineup here in Houston. We have La Raza and Concierto, but no Azucar. Might the "XO" format here be another option in DFW?

Wonder what they will do with 1540. Two of their four Houston AM's are LMA'd to outside programmers.

A few minutes ago, 101.7 flipped to Concierto 101.7, killing the Superestrella format. Rumor has it that La Raza moves to 98.3 soon, and 97.5 will continue to be José until a new format is loaded on the computer. No word on 106.7 or Tricolor yet.

And a few moments ago, 98.3 dropped José "Spanish Adult Hits" for "Norte" with a pure norteña format. 93.7 is still La Raza, and Tricolor and Kazza are yet unchanged.

When do expect Casa to change??

No idea. The next would likely be Tricolor. Kazza is the top biller in the cluster, so it might even make sense to keep it. However, that is supposed to be the Azucar frequency, so it is a toss up.

In a left-field move, Liberman creates an FM Spanish contemporary Christian station.

The following is a "fair usage" cite from the R&R article.

"KTCY remains a pop station but has changed its name to "Concierto," KBOC has become norteno-light "El Norte," and KZMP-FM will flip to Spanish Christian "La Luz" at midnight tonight. KZZA and KZMP-AM remain the same. All five stations are programmed by Eddie De Leon."
