Cascada - A Neverending Dream

I'm worried that we'll never hear from Cascada again at CHR-POP radio once "Everytime We Touch" runs its course. When you go to her official web site you can hear (what I'm guessing) is slated to be her next U.S. single - "A Neverending Dream". According to Mediabase it received exactly 0 (zero) spins over the past 7 days (down from 2 spins during the previous 7 days). That's hardly promising for a (suspected) follow-up single.

What's even more intriguing is the fact that various songs from Cascada's current album appear on the CHR-RHY airplay chart - "Everytime We Touch", "Miracle", "Bad Boy", and "Ready For Love". Perhaps one of these three latter songs could be her follow-up ?

I didn't realize that there were so many remakes on her album !

I just hope that Cascada doesn't turn out to be the next D.H.T. "Someone" should have been HUGE at mainstream hit music radio as a strong follow-up to "Listen To Your Heart". BPM gave it airplay for a good month before it gave up on it.

B96 Chicago is already bangin' Miracle. Hopefully, other CHRs will pick up on this lead and add this song to their station's playlist. Miracle is a strong follow up for the American market that will hopefully garner some additional success and attention for the group.
______________

I wonder how this will affect the stations like WNOU Indianapolis, who only recently added (Everytime we touch) a few weeks ago. These CHRs shouldnt have been so late adding it. I hope the two songs dont cancel each other out,,, For the stations that were late on adding Everytime we touch. Ive got my fingers crossed though.

I need a "Miracle"

As has been stated below, "Miracle" will be the next Cascada single. We are not shipping the new cd promotionally for at least another 2-3 weeks. So nothing on a massive scale will happen before then. Hopefully it will happen shortly after. ;)

Here was my reply to someone on another board that had asked me why we were taking so long in releasing a follow-up to "ETWT". I think you'll see that the timing is something that we addressed:

"Because what is old for some, is brand new for others.

Dance labels cannot operate the same way that Majors do. Dropping singles like they were popping Rasinettes. Our timetables are different for various reasons. It's is to our advantage to make sure that every market has had the right amount of time to expose "ETWT" to the max before moving on to the next one.

Markets like Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Miami, Washington DC, Cleveland, New Orleans, etc are not even close to 1,000 spins yet (about the place where real hit records in a market get to overall on Top 40). Not to mention Los Angeles where they haven't even played it in rotation yet. If we move on too soon then we leave spins on the table. Spins on the table leaves dollars out of the artist/writers and our pockets. It's hard enough to reach this level with dance music so when we can we need to milk it for all it's worth.

That said, there's nothing stopping those that want to play "Miracle" early from doing so. B-96 (Chicago) is already up to 20 spins a week."

Thats pretty much what im saying,, I think the Late Add stations, need to hold on to ETWT for a while, However,,, I dont want Miracle to loose its steam before the ETWT late adders get around to it.... Thats why I have my fingers crossed.

Hey there. I'm sort of new to the Dance board. I need to catch-up and read some of the earlier posts in here from a few weeks ago. I tried to post about dance music in the Miami board awhile back (considering the fact that I'm still recovering from the demise of 'PARTY-93.1') but it seems that they'd rather discuss (argue back-and-forth) about immigration and burritos in there instead.

OK so I'll be on the lookout for "Miracle" on the radio. I'll be rooting for its success in the mainstream.

I take it (John) that you are in the dance music business ?

I can speak for Miami. Y-100.7 (don't get me started) just catapulted "Everytime We Touch" from the 40 to 50 spins a week zone (where it languished for a few months) all the way up to the 110+ spins a week stratosphere. It didn't happen gradually. It happened suddenly - just a couple of weeks ago. It went from being played about every 4 hours to being played every 90 minutes. It's still got a lot of life aqui en Miami. There are a lot of spins remaining on the table !

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't surprised if the airplay increase has to do with Michael Yo recently getting the PD gig at Y.

Re: I need a "Miracle"

I'll save John from tooting his own horn. LOL

John Parker is THE MAN at Robbins Entertainment, the record label that brings you Cascada, DHT, DJ Sammy, Scent, Judy Torres, Reina, Black Rock, Marly, Narcotic Thrust, Milky, and dozens other dance artists. He's a sincere guy who understands mainstream dance and the challenges of bringing dance to contemporary hit radio.

I'm very appreciative of what he's done and what's he doing for dance radio, and for being accessible through this message board. Great guy and great dance label.
______________

You know you make a good point there. I have noticed substantial changes with Y-100.7 (some of them good and some of them not so good) since 'Yo' took over as PD (and MD). There have been dramatic increases and decreases week-to-week of various hits on their playlist, and he seems to be experimenting with making it sound more like Miami and not so much like 'Springfield Valley U.S.A.'.

If he added some of the great late-1990s Eurodance recurrents that made Y-100 what it was back then and also break some new emerging European dance hits then this station could be on its way to a rebound.

This is Post # 101 for me, and 101 is closer to 100.7 than 100 is.

I'm very appreciative that you've taken the time to electronically introduce me to him. His posts are not only extremely informative, but they are downright educational. I'm glad that I got active on this board to mingle with those of you who are 'in the biz'. I'm a fan of your biz.

My vast collection of Robbins Entertainment CDs at home, in my car, and at work is proof of that.

LOL, nice!

I agree with you that Y-100.7 would be a better CHR/Pop station (both ratings-wise, and more of a personal favorite) if it were to sound like Z-103.5 Toronto. Z-103.5 plays the type of Recurrents you've suggested (which Y played all the time in the mid 90s to early 2000s) and is way more active on new Dance then the average CHR/Pop or even CHR/Dance station:

LOL! John's not my type. My wife could attest to that! Hahaha

When I was programming a station in Chicago during the 90s, I saw the first few Robbins hits delivered to my desk. Robbins was one of the only labels that didn't bug the crap out of me during my official call times. IIRC, the first Robbins CD I added to rotation was Rockell "I Fell In Love."

Since then, I've seen lots of dance record labels come and go in popularity (Strictly Rhythm/Groovilicious, DJ International, SOS, Radikal, Popular, Interhit, Strictly Hype, Metropolitan, etc). Robbins has stayed consistent since its start, focused on crossover-potential dance hits. If there is any other record label that comes close, that would be Ultra.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Now let's find some aggressive male-oriented dance music to add to rotations... heheheheh...

Re: Cascada - ETWT

I would just like to show appreciation to all those that got this track to mainstream radio in the first place. Cascada is one the most positive things to happen to popular dance music in the last couple of years.

Re: I need a "Miracle"

Thank you sir for the kind words. :)
