Heard this on Sirius "The Beat" this afternoon on my way home. I'm assuming this is the followup to "Everytime We Touch" that Robbins has settled on for release?

It was interesting to hear Michelle Visage pronounce Cascada as "kass-kah-da". I always thought the second "a" was a long one, as in "kass-kay-da". Then I heard her butcher Thalia's name (the "h" is supposed to be silent... LOL) on the air, so I began to wonder about the correct pronounciation.

I wish there was an online promounciation guide for this type of stuff! I hate butchering someone's name and then having to be corrected and looking like an idiot... lol

No follow-up has been decided on. In fact, Sirius is playing both "Bad Boy" and "Miracle".

As for the pronouncation, Michelle said it correctly. Although I've heard jocks from around the country say it the other way as well. Natalie will answer to either.

PS - I know there have been a lot of Cascada threads lately but I've got one more, What do you think should be the follow-up? We've got it down to 3.

Well I like both tracks. But I'm crossing my fingers on seeing "Miracle" getting a new lease on life.

She butchers a ton of names. Thats why I can Frank and ask him. John a few years ago I had a conversation with Frank about sending bio sheets out. Included would be how to pronounce the arits name. When I worked at WRTI in Philly we had a whole binder with bios and how to pronounce everyone on the tracks name. I dont know if that might be a help or not.

Robbins should send out a pronunciation guide with their latest package of names they sent out!!! ;-)

It never even occured to me that the name Cascada could be pronounced "kas-KAY-dah." It still sounds strange to me. I prefer "Kas-KAH-dah".

When in doubt, I have always followed Latin rules of pronounciation where A is pronounced "ah", E is "eh", I is "ee", O is "oh", and U is "oo". I've used these rules to try to pronounce those difficult last names when I'm emceeing an event. 95% of the time I am correct! The person is usually grateful and surprised that I pronounced their name correctly on the first attempt.

As for Thalia: I always assumed that "th" in most Latin names were not pronounced like the "th" in "there" (where you put your tongue against the bottom of your two front teeth, when you're practically biting your tongue). I've always figured that "th" is not exactly like a hard "T" but involved pressing your tongue against the top of your front teeth. It almost sounds like "Da-LEE-ah".

I had trouble pronouncing "th" when I was a kid. I would pronounce "the" as "duh", and "there" as "dare". I had to go to speech therapy when I was in 1st and 2nd grades. There-- a little more about me. Here's a little practice for ya!

I liked "Miracle" a lot too, but I've already heard it a billion times a year or two ago. I guess I see the benefit in re-releasing it for mainstream CHR radio, but for the dance stations/channels, I would prefer something new. I'm liking the "Bad Boy" song that "the Beat" is playing currently.

I think Miracle would be a strong re-release to follow Everytime We Touch song. Even though Miracle is 2 years old, I have a funny feeling that it will now test VERY well on CHR stations and can further keep Cascade in the Billboard Hot 100.<P ID="signature">______________
