Cascada on Lite FM??

No lie....Cascada's "What Hurts The Most" was played on Lite FM. I made sure to chedk the ID and it was tje TOH ID right after it. Who would've thought Dance would fall on an Adult Contemporary level.

Lite FM has such a weird playlist that they shouldn't even be called Adult Contemporary nor "lite" anymore.

This wouldn't be the first. Lite FM also plays Cher's "Believe", Lara Fabian's "I Will Love Again", J-Lo's "Waiting for tonight" and Nicki French "Total eclipse of the heart".

The AC stations in this region are not as good as the others away from the big cities. Glad you remembered to wait for an ID, there's been a lot of DX recently.

The song is a cover of the popular country song by Rascal Flatts - a group that I believe should have had crossover success with songs just like that one.

The station also plays "Halo", "Single Ladies", "Hips Don't Lie", "I Gotta Feeling", and "Alejandro" - hardly AC staples. KOST is much better.

Looks like Lite/KOST's sister station 99.9 KEZ in Phoenix also plays Lady Gaga's "Alejandro". Though, just like the other Phoenix stations (except 101.5 JamZ), this station makes me sleep. Dull and boring if you ask me...

All the AC stations in this area have gone downhill musically since Fresh 102.7 launched. The only good AC in this market is WEBE 108. Magic 98.3 was the last AC to go hot, but it had succumbed to the trend. Its ratings have gone down since, as it has changed from the station you leave on at work all day and on the entire ride to and from work, to a station you push the button just to hear the latest hit over and over and tune out after the song.

Yes, it makes perfect sense to play Phil Collins right after the latest hit from Katy Perry.

As much as I love dance music, I don't want to hear it on the AC stations.

I just checked the latest chart for Lite AC on Mediabase and Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" is listed as a recurrent. Also charting AC/Mediabase:
Lady GaGa-Just Dance
Lady GaGa-Papparazi
Lady GaGa-Alejandro

and

Beyonce-Single Ladies

Definitely not your grandfathers AC format anymore.

This just in: New Yorker Jerry Seinfeld gives a one-finger salute to Lite-FM! ;D

This is 2010, not the early 80's anymore, culture has shifted... the 25-54 year old demo that A/C office stations catered to from 1980 through the 90's has been replaced by a completely new generation... even the youngest end of the 25-54 demo from 1980 is now 55... the MTV generation is now the mainstay at the office and we're not your parents radio listeners! 25 year olds don't remember the 80's cause they were just born, and those who are 54 aren't winding down their careers anymore, and they don't think they're old or want to act it! (on a side note of old - my grandmother is 85 and taps her feet to Lady Gaga and finds her tunes and I quote "very catchy and fun" ... the era of cheesy soft a/c is as old as the old 9-to-5 business suit stuffy office day - things are a tad more casual and more and more off the beaten worn out a/c path...

I was wondering if there ever was going to be a day when "rap" would be acceptable on mainstream AC and the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" has apparently broken the barrier. Whenever I go to a wedding I see 60 year olds getting down to C&C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat".

Who knows. The way the format is changing maybe soft rap ballards like LL Cool J's "I Need Love", Diddy's "I'll Be Missing You" or that new Nicki Minaj song would be accepted someday. Shaggy's "Angel" is on some AC stations.
