i'm taking a chance here with this....i know that the current american top 40 show is on B-104.why can't the 70's edition be aired? WLEV my choice.i know WOGL airs it but to have it back here in the valley would be great! ahhh the days when SUPER K later 13-KAP aired AT-40 on sundays.any takers??? c'mon 100.7 get the real AT-40 the 70's.please!

Might have something to do with Sirius/XM owning the rights to the shows from the 70's and 80's for their '70's 0n 7' and '80's on 8' channels, respectively.
WOGL is in a different market than the Lehigh Valley. Most programs like AT40 are available to one station per METRO or DMA. but, in the case of AT 40, a current station could run the new shows, and another Classic station could then run the CLASSIC version. They are marketed as two different shows.
Back in the late 70's, when i was newly out of college and just starting in radio, i was the guy who played the AT40 records on Sundays at WKAP for about a year. I got to do live weather inserts, and play the commercials, and then i had an overnight shift for the remainder of the week.
I remember the shift on Sundays started at about 7am. I got to play all of the "God Squad" tapes until noon, when AT40 came on. It was a long day, and the best thing, to me at least, about AT40, was that it had nice long segments (some ran 15 minutes or more). So, i could lock the door, run next door to Burger King, and get a lunch! Probably would have gotten fired if anyone knew i left the station un-attended... but hey, a guy's gotta eat, right?

hi gene!!! wow i have a super K playlist with your picture on the back cover.i never missed AT-40 in it's great run on WKAP in the mid to late 70's.do you remember chuck morgan? he ran AT-40 when it was moved to 7pm to 10pm in 1977.well he's at WMUH and still going strong.looking at the stations you were on SAN,the BIG X!,super K later 13-KAP and WEST.all gone but not forgotten.if i had the luck to work at the super K back in the 70's i would have gone to gino's hamburgers/KFC! sigh!!! glad to know you're still kicking.
If I recall, Chuck Morgan had just left when i joined the station. I started there in spring of '78, i think it was. Grease was the word, King Tut ruled the airwaves. Chris Bailey hired me then. I was an annoying college kid, who used to come by the station to 'hang out' before i was hired, and Bailey liked me. He had me work in one of the production rooms, listening to air checks and working on my style, until he saw enough to hire me.

Super-KAP used to give away their sets of AT-40 discs to a randomly-drawn listener who correctly guessed the #1 song.
I know because I won the drawing THREE times! March '76, and January AND September '77!
I still have all three sets, and as far as I can tell they're in GREAT shape!

Yeah! I remember doing that... i started shortly after you mentioned, but i remember giving those records away. Very cool.
It's fun listening to those old programs on XM Radio, 70's on 7. When they come on from my days there, i sit with my kids sometimes and tell them how daddy used to go to Burger King while those records played on my shifts!
