Casey Kasem Comes To Y102.9 Next Wed!

Y102.9 has pick up American Top 40 70's show with Casey Kasem it starts next Wed.

On a Wed? Why??? And where are they gonna put it? That's a weekend show, at best. Casey doesn't sound very good anymore. I'd carry Charlie Tuna's 70s show. And... Y102-9 carries 7 days of Tom Kent, including his 70s Sunday show. I think adding Casey is a bad move.

It's gonna start of 7-midnight on wed on new years night and all day new years day, and they will put the show on saterday mornings 7-10 from what I hear. Casey Kasem is not all that bad since it's on a oldie station. Go to Y1029.com

These are the old AT40 shows from the 70s. 35 years ago Casey was the most recognizable name
in Top 40 radio. Boomers will love hearing these countdowns again.

Wednesday is New Year's Eve. Great way to launch the feature with a Marathon.

Sorry Charlie.

and of course in the Triad you can hear Casey sunday nights 9-midnight on Majic 941. And Back to the 70's with MG Kelly (Charlie Tuna has retired) sunday mornings 7-11.

Bill, we can agree to disagree... as usual ;)

I've never liked his show, never really listened to him when the show was at it's height in the 80s.

Is Casey Casem strong enough to attract cume on NY Eve and all day NY Day? I don't think so. I can't see core listeners saying "oh my, I just gotta listen".

Want to attract your core, and upper core? Run the Wolfman Jack Show. A far better show and talent.

To Fingar....As for MG Kelly.... puke. As soon as I was able to cancel his "Hit List" show it was gone. If Charlie Tuna no longer does the show then I wouldn't run it with MG Kelly.

What about Into the 60s with Gary Bryan? (K-Earth's morning man). Great show!

MG Kelly's 70s show is horrible. It is probably one of my least-favorite syndicated oldies...ahem, classic hits shows. I don't care for Hit List either but it's ok. WXLY/Chas carried that as well a few years ago.

VO, what do you think of Steve Goddard's 70s show?

I like Steve Goddard's shows, all of them. Syndicated by WestStar Radio Networks (owned by Kim Komando)

In addition to his syndicated shows he is now doing middays at KOOL/Phoenix

Here's the website for Gary Bryan's "Inside the 60s" http://www.radiogenius.com/insidethesixties.html

Very well done show.

Affiliates include K-Earth, KFRC-A/San Fran, WOMC/Detroit, KLUV/Dallas, KOOL/Phoenix, WRIT/Milwaukee and WMJI/Cleveland.

Too many stations are 70s heavy. Research (Edison) shows the 60s are still strong. All about presentation, talent and the right mix. Entertaining the listener is still key.
