Casey Kasem swears up a storm!

Note to Moderator

In the defense of the poster who started this thread, when I clicked on the
link, it took me right to Window's Media Player meaning I didn't even get to the site.
-------------

The Moderator seems to be a little off on this one. Yes I have my own website. Therefore I placed the Casey Kasem file on my server. Where else am I supposed to put it? Adverstising my site definitely was not my motive. It's already in my signature file. So I don't need to use some kind of trickery to get people to my page. As the Poster above mentioned, clicking on the link did not bring you to my website anyway. It simply plays the file in the Windows media player. That's exactly what it's supposed to do. That's sure not the method I would have used if I were trying to promote my page.

Urban Legend??

At least 20 years old and still a gut buster.
I think it has to do with Casey's clean cut, nice guy image of playing the hits during your 4th of July weekend at the family picnic.

The version I heard of how this clip came to be is as follows:

An engineer at ABC saved the outtake. After Casem quit ABC and American Top 40 the tape was mysteriously sent over the ABC radio network Satellite.
However, Don Imus claims he was given it by somebody he refuses to name, and has the 'original'.

what have others heard???

Reply from Moderator

While I appreciate your responding to my concerns, John, you crossed a line with some of your comments criticizing me as a moderator. Rather than deleting your entire post, because I wanted your explanation to remain visible, I removed that portion of the post which violates R-I Rule #5.

Please take a moment and review the rules. For the record, that is also where you will find that moderators have the right to remove content that violates the rules.

Do you kiss your Mom with that mouth?

Blooper reels are evergreen.

There is a really well-done blooper mp3 from legendary VO guy Ernie Anderson, whom people of a certain age will remember promoting the "LOOOOOOOOOVE Boat". It is on Beau Weaver's web site (www.spokenword.com) under the "photos" section.

Disclaimer: I am not connected to Beau Weaver in any way and I'm not trying to drum up business for Mr. Weaver. Finding this bit was totally serendipitous.

Some years ago, I was setting up an Audio Vault to record the Rush Limbaugh show. Something didn't work right and the machine kept recording after the show was over. El Rushbo was still connected to the bird, although he may not have been aware of it, and the recorder captured several minutes of him flubbing a canned commentary and dropping several f-bombs. Wish I'd kept a copy of that...

I saw Kasem on Conan O'Brien's show a few years back. Conan asked him about the outtakes, and Casey laughed about it. He didn't seem bitter that they were out there, and basically acknowledged that they were well-known. I first heard these outtakes (in bleeped form) on a local morning show in the early 90s.

Incidentally, you can find the Negativeland song "U2" (with Kasem clips) on the Illegal Art compilation, which can be downloaded for free here:

http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/liner.html

There's some great stuff here, all songs have run into issues of copyright infringement. Some of it is not able to see the light of day due to legal issues, including the Beastie Boys' "Rock Hard", which I had been trying to find for 20 years!

Welles

How would you like to have Orson Welles call your copy "unrewarding"...

Or have him refer to "the depths of your ignorance"...

OUCH!
