Casey Kasem's AT40 in Connecticut

Hi all.when will ever CT will get a affiliate for Casey Kasem's AT40
from the 70's or the 80's.It seems like every other state has an affiliate. or i'm missing the boat.

They syndicate the old reruns nationally..i heard it in Syracuse on 92.1.

It must be cheaper for DRC-FM to have someone voicetrack a few hours on a weekend morning than to run a syndicated show, I'd imagine. And you know they're not going to dump the Saturday night request show for it.

Who else in the market might be interested? River? TIC-FM? The problem is that a lot of the songs played on AT40 would really clash with the narrow musical focus of both stations. The charts in the '70s and early '80s were full of MOR and country crossover stuff that just wouldn't work on today's focus-group-tested music radio.

Case and point, CTListener - I heard an AT 40 rerun on XM with Casey saying, "and now in at #15, it's Led Zeppelin and Black Dog...". It's a great song, but you will not hear it on a classic hits/oldies station.

WTIC-FM, "ninety-six-five-t-i-c", was running AT40 on Sunday mornings and is now running a classic version in that time slot. Last week's show was from 1986.

A 1986 AT40 works fine -- lots of catchy pop and MTV-friendly music and, of course, Michael Jackson. A 1980 or 1981 AT40 wouldn't. Johnny Lee? Alabama? Neil Diamond? On 'TIC-FM, even on Sunday morning? I don't think so...

How 'bout the dead dog dedication version? ;D

July 30, 1988 is running right now (Sunday 9 AM) on WTIC-FM 96.5. Sadly, Casey would leave the show less than a month later. Maybe I'm wrong, but it may be edited down. They played "Alphabet Street" from Prince, "The Color Of Love" from Billy Ocean and "Do You Love Me" from the Contours (re-released due to the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack).
