Cassville, Missouri 104.5 K283AV??

Avid radio listener but newbie here and I live near Cassville, Missouri.

I know that as of a few years ago there were plans in the works for Contemporary Christian station KOBC 90.7 out of Joplin to have a small repeater at Cassville on 104.5. The call letters being K283AV.

Since then, KOBC has been bought out by K-LOVE, a national Contemporary Christian station with transmitters in many places.

Anyway, to the point of my post >

About 2 weeks ago, I recieved a silent signal on 104.5, but it soon went back off the air.

I contacted the K-LOVE people in an email and they informed me that they do NOT any longer have any plans on putting anything at Cassville.

I wonder what it was I got that afternoon. I am 99.9% sure that it had nothing to do with the Tulsa, OK rock station on that frequency as I was getting no other Tulsa stations at the time.

I think that the BOTT Radio network or something else may be behind what I received and they were testing the transmitter.

I know this is all pretty obscure info, but does anybody possibly have any information on what I received and are there any plans of anybody putting anything on 104.5 at Cassville, Missouri?

Thanks in advance!

p.s. (nonrelated) Is there an introduction thread or something of the sort for newbies on this forum and who are the Admins & Moderators here? I am extremely impressed with this site and I wish that I had found it years ago!!

The FCC lists no translators in Cassville on any frequency. There is a translator on 104.5, on the other side of the lake, near Branson, and it is for Bott Radio. But I doubt you would be able to hear it.

Welcome, Shadowcat.

Cassville, Mo, huh! Is there still a billboard along the highway that says "Only the morning dew covers Barry County better than <name of the paper was here>.

For three decade we lived in places north and east of you, and typically three times a year I would come home from work, we would throw the kids in that back seat, and drive all night to get about 100 miles south of you to visit "The Home Country". And more than once I have pulled into the drive of a substantial old farmhouse just north of Cassville that had been reduced to hay storage or something and catch 10 or 15 minutes of shut-eye at 4 A.M. Better there than going to sleep south of Fayetteville on the old Hwy 71.

We told our Yankee friends that to go home we had to go through country that was so remote they didn't have hiway numbers. We just jumped off I-44 on Route "H". At least Missouri had roads like that paved back then.

Just send your thank-you note and compliments to the Managing Board Editor via the Personal Mail system, or they might not get to bent-out-of-shape if you posted in the forum labeled "Ask RadioDiscussions". Say something nice... then ask a question of them. That keeps you totally honest and legal. ;D
