Cat Country in the running

Cat Country 98.1 is a contender for CMA large market station of the year. I wasn't aware Providence was a large market, but I guess I'm thinking back to the days when everything was major, medium, small in terms of markets.

Large Market? That sure doesn't seem right. Did someone suddenly combine Boston and Providence into one market? Their transmitter is in New Bedford though. So maybe that has something to do with it. I checked a coverage map and they really do have a large coverage area. From New London to well North of Boston and every single inch of the cape too.

IIRC, the Providence-Warwick-Pawtucket market is #44. Top fifty could be considered "Large Market." I don't know if I personally would consider anything under #20 "large" but considering there's like 280 markets, I don't think it's unreasonable to draw the line at #50 and above.

I would think markets 1-10 would be considered 'major', 11-50 'large', 51-100 'medium', and 100+ 'small'. So, Providence being a large market makes sense.
