I'm trying to think of the most constructive way to say this, so stick with me.

I was up early the other day because of the snow storm and listened to CTK. Are you kidding me? I used to listen when Tad L. was on and I think Chris is a good sidekick, but seriously! It sounded like a morning show that belonged in upstate NY. Absolutely atrocious. There was no content of any value, lots of yucking / puking etc. If they can't find a good morning show the should just play more music and let Chris jock it.

I think CTK is a strong station musically and talent wise. It's probably the best in the market, but the morning show is a disaster!

It's a different kind of show now in that in my opinion, neither Matt nor Chris is a sidekick. I wake up to it. I'm comfortable with it. I like it. Maybe I'm over thinking this, but when it comes to morning radio I think you have to be a consistent listener to really get the feel of any show. You can have a valid opinion when it comes to sampling every morning show in the market but your perception changes when you stick with a show & it becomes part of your morning routine. I think they connect with listeners & what's going on in their lives. If I were hiring a morning show I'd have a hard time coming to a decision unless I was hiring people already in the market because I'd want to really listen to the candidates over a period of time the way the audience does, which really isn't possible.

Good response regardless of what peoples' opinions are. When I'm out of the market and scanning around I'll think "no", "yeah", "ughh", etc but my reaction might be different if I lived in the market and listened like a listener. I think you clinched the idea of the morning show having to be part of the listener's life and when that happens you stop judging it. I have to say I agree with The Shuffle in that the show isn't my cup of tea but let's face it. There are some great morning people who would sink in any other daypart because the opportunity to do what they do would be gone and also some great jocks who just aren't cut out for mornings.
