Is this a generic name for country DJ's or is the guy on 99.5 the same guy from K-95 in Richmond? Just askin

Don't know about radio DJs named Catfish Hunter, but I can tell you that Hall of Famer Catfish Hunter, the baseball allstar, was one heck of a pitcher. He died about 12 years ago, however. Played for the Yankees, and I think the As.

If there's an actual house name 'Catfish Hunter', that's just plain wrong. Sheesh -- why not Tug McGraw? Or doesn't modern country management wanna go anywhere NEAR that one?

If that's a guy's real name, then, okay. That's probably not a common name at all though. Richmond is not too far from where Jim 'Catfish' Hunter was born (near coastal NC).
And in a converse way, baseball pitchers Jerry Reed and Kenny Rogers couldn't help the names they were given.

But c'mon. If someone was working on the cheap here, this could turn out to be a copyright/estate case. And sequels are usually a sign of evaporated creativity anyway.

Overall on the name:

Boo. Two thumbs down and two other fingers up.

Believe me, they wouldn't be the first station to do something that sordid, and the host wouldn't be the first person on the air to pull a stunt like that either. Usually, however, it is young girls who can't make it in life or on the air, so they use or imply the identity of somebody they figure is an easy mark. Their own lives slip away from them while they are busy trying to make money on somebody else's good name.

Could you imagine if the Yankees ran a music radio station, and some of the vanity names that they could possibly give their jocks... Samantha Mantle, anyone?

Nor could Brett Butler.

I'm guessing you're talking about Craig Catfish Hunter. I don't think he ever worked in Richmond. For 10 years, he did afternoon drive on Star 94 here in Atlanta, using the name Craig Hunt. I don't know whether that's his real name, but I know he used it at KDWB in Minneapolis before coming to Atlanta. From Atlanta, he moved to country station KYGO in Denver, where his name changed to Craig Catfish Hunter. That's of course the name he goes by in mornings on U.S. 103.5 in Tampa. Good guy.

What about Al Hrabosky and the Polka Show? John "Bluemoon' Odom and 'Blues after Dark" , Stock Market Report with Barry Bonds, Hair Club for Men with Joe Pepitone, Desperate Househusbands with Evan Longoria,
