Catherine Varnum

Yeah, she's gone. Don't believe that it was by her choice though.

I believe it has been noted on this board before that according to the current union contract, management has the option of getting rid of two on-air employees a year if they so desire. Perhaps that's the reason for Varnum's departure.
What is interesting to note is it's now Channel 10, and not 8 that seems to be using the "revolving door policy" when it comes to personnel.
Since I don't watch 10, I really can't comment on Varnum's work, but I do wish her the best of luck in finding another job.

It sure seems like the news management at WHEC-TV has systematically dismantled parts of that newsroom. Year to year they
are losing viewers to 8. Are the news honchos there puppets for the Magid flunkies? Their product is a joke these days. People
that run a newsroom in the downward direction like they have, generally don't last long. This is very puzzling!

Channel 10 needs to stop laying off their best on-air talent. Catherine Varnum wass one of their best and hottest (and I don't mean from the looks) reporters. They need to get rid of Robin Dewind. She brings nothing to the table.
