Cathy D retiring from WATD after 47 years

Cathy D, afternoon drive, on WATD is retiring with her last day Friday, September 6. Cathy has done every shift there and started soon after Ed Perry launched the station, named WATD which stands for We’re At The Dump—the only place he could secure a transmitter site location.

I believe Cathy at various times was Music Director & I believe PD …& well, whatever other jobs they have there lol..

As an alum from many years back—so proud to see a station that’s STILL a fixture in the local community & thriving with a commitment to local news & community. Hint: it REALLY can be done!

That Ed still owns this station, more as a part of his immediate family than as an investment, and that he employed a Talent for 47 years…tells u all you need to know.

Cathy is really a local legend. I’d say she deserves her retirement, but I would have said that 25 years ago lol!
